Chapter Sixteen, A New Alpha, A New Chief

Drago stood there as Sirius and Valka ran to the ice banging on it as Sirius tried to break the ice by firing curses at it. "No! No! I won't lose my daughter! I won't!" He cried as Valka banged on it with her fists. "Hiccup!" Valka muttered with her head on the ice and her eyes closed Sirius in a similar position next to her as the curses weren't working. When they suddenly they heard a wiring noise and the sound of the ice cracking they opened their eyes to see a bright blue light coming within the ice and backed away quickly. The light got brighter and brighter until the ice exploded abs when the dust settled it revealed Volta and Toothless curled up in a ball their heads, nose and dorsal fins from the top of their heads down to their tail were glowing the bright blue colour.

The blast had come from their bodies as they untucked their heads standing up to reveal Hiccup underneath Toothless' wings safe. And Elivra under Volta's wings also safe. They snarled at the Bewilderbeast viciously almost manically the inside of their mouths also glowing. They stopped snarling to check on their riders chirping curiously only turning back around when Elivra and Hiccup smiled at them. They jumped up onto a icy spike snarling once more at the Bewilderbeast their backs glowing as they roared at the Bewilderbeast. "They're challenging the alpha!" Hiccup said amazed as he and Elivra climbed out of the ice Valka running up to him and Sirius running up to Elivra. "To protect the both of you!" Valka told them. Volta and Toothless fires plasma blast at the Bewilderbeast much stronger than anyone had ever seen before. Their attack on the alpha was unrelenting as they fired shot after shot, their backs glowing a bright luminous blue, their shots were like small explosions as when they struck the alpha black smoke appeared.

The alpha trying to stop the attack swing his tusks at the two icicles the two Night Furies were stood on breaking them. But that didn't stop the two Night Furies they just jumped on another one and carried on firing, due to the attack he lost control on the other dragons as they had started to awake. Firing one more shot each Volta and Toothless roared and jumped down standing in front of their riders protectively as they roared once more the dragons left the Bewilderbeast's side and flew to Toothless and Volta's side firing blasts of their own. "No! No, no, no!" Drago exclaimed running towards his dragon. "Fight back! Fight!" He ordered as climbed onto the tusks. "Fight! What's the matter with you?" He asked as the dragon wouldn't fight back.

As he turned around he saw all the people of Berk come and stand behind Hiccup and Elivra including his ex-trapper. Much like the dragons circling around behind Volta and Toothless all ready to fight. Hiccup and Elivra climbed onto their dragons and jumped onto the remaining icicles. "Now do you get it?" Hiccup asked.
"This is what it is to earn a dragon's loyalty." Elivra continued. "Let this end. Now." She ordered a spell on the tip of her tongue just in case he didn't back down like Tom Riddle.
"Never!" Drago spat proving her right unfortunately. "Come on!" He ordered. The Bewilderbeast roared at Volta and Toothless challenging them. But they just turned and roared at the dragons around them as if giving ordered before they prepared to fire their ultra plasma blasts. The other dragons joining in after they gave the firsts shots.

Firing kept continuing unrelenting the Bewilderbeast not having a chance to fire as Toothless and Volta watched on with a dragon like smirk on their faces. Drago tried to take for cover behind one of the spikes and lost his fake armoured arm as he ordered the Bewilderbeast to fight and as it went to Volta and Toothless let out their most powerful blast yet that they blew the one of the tusks off cutting it in half. At that point it moaned in pain and Toothless and Volta let out at unrelenting roar all the whine still glowing brightly before snorting at the end. The Bewilderbeast groaned and turned away slightly. "The alpha protects them all!" Hiccup told Drago fiercely. The Bewilderbeast gave one last groan before diving into the ocean with Drago as the people of Berk cheered for the four of them.

They gave the ocean one last look to make sure they were truly gone before climbing off the icicle and off of their dragons. As soon as Volta and Toothless has landed all the dragons landed around them. Cloudjumper walked towards the two Night Furies and bowed deeply to them making all of the other dragons to bow to them too as Toothless and Volta (mainly Toothless) stuck out their chests proudly. Toothless and Volta threw their heads back into the air and roared starting a round of roaring from all the other dragons as the people cheered. Toothless and Volta turned towards Hiccup and Elivra, with a gummy smile. Elivra kissed her dragons head praising her dragon as Hiccup did with Toothless before he was knocked over as Toothless started licking him as everyone laughed once more. "Oh come on you know that doesn't wash out!" Hiccup moaned. "Why doesn't Volta do this to you!" Hiccup moaned as he saw Volta just rubbing her head all over Elivra.

As everyone ran and greeted their dragons once again all happy to see each other, though Gobber did end up being pinned to the floor by Grump. Elivra giggled at the two, he did ask for a cuddle, so? She smiled as she saw her dad greet Lija once more before the dragon came and cuddled with her so she was squished in between two overprotective female dragons now it was Hiccup's turn to laugh at her. "They was some pretty fine dragon wangling back there." Eret commented as Skullcrusher cuddled with Hiccup and Elivra. "I'm being smothered by dragons." She muttered making the two men laugh.
"You'd make a good trapper." Eret told Hiccup. "Whoa!" He laughed when Skullcrusher nudged him asking to be stroked.
"You know, Skullcrusher's gonna need somebody to look after him now." Hiccup told him.

Me?" Eret asked confused. Hiccup just smiled and nodded at him. "I'd be honoured." Eret exclaimed happily as he held Skullcrusher's nose and chaw as Skullcrusher huffed happily.
"Your father would he every bit as proud as I am." Valka told his as she came and embraced her son happily and relieved he was okay. "Thank you." Hiccup said gratefully happy to know he'd make his father proud. "I'm really glad your here mum."
"And here I'll stay." She assured as she huffed we son and stroked Toothless. Elivra came back up to Hiccup after finally getting out of her dad's hold. "I told you, you could do it." Elivra beamed at him. Hiccup smiling just as happily at her he was so glad through everything she stood by his side and thought with him no matter what.

"I couldn't have done it without you Liv." Hiccup insisted. Elivra smiled softly at him. "Yes, you could have Hiccup. You've always had it in you." Elivra replied.
"Come here, you." Hiccup said pulling her to him by her waist and into a passionate kiss. Which Gobber covered Gustav's eyes as he was staring at the pair, Sirius looking away as he did not want to see that. After a few minutes they pulled back slowly as they started into each other's eyes. Hiccup got a tap on the shoulder by the village's Elder she bowed before him as he kneeled before her as everyone watched.

She grabbed some soot rubbing it between her fingers before drawing the chief symbol on Hiccup's head. She smiled happily at him and bowed once more as Gobber came up next to him beaming proudly at him. "The Chief has come home!" He announced at the village as everyone cheered for their new chief. They couldn't be happier. As they started chanting for Hiccup. "Long live the Chief! Long live the chief! Long live the chief! Long live the chief!" The dragons added to the noise as they let out loud bellows and fired off blasts into the air.
