I have a friend who's different than everyone else and every day, I give him a flower to show him that I care.

We sit together at lunch, sharing food and secrets. While the others look down jealously. Because we're talking and laughing and being ourselves.

I shield him from his demons. And he shields me from mine. While the torment pounds on our doors, we huddle by the fire.

And we're happy. Together. Just two friends following along as others pave the way. We don't need fame and money. We have each other.

His differences don't matter to me. He's still human, after all. If a rainbow had one color, the rainbow would be boring.

The bullies came in waves and I tried to be his shield. But one day the shield shattered and we were left defenseless on the battlefield.

I told him it would be ok. We would rise up and try again. But he didn't believe me. He was convinced his differences were something to be ashamed of.

He made a leap and was caught by the rope on his neck.

All because of the differences which nobody could change.

I have a friend who's different than everyone else and every day, I give him a flower to show him that I care.
