Chapter Eighteen!

Recap:

“Just get home schooled with me! Come over every morning and my teacher can home school you too!” Cody said.

I saw tears start to form in his eyes.

“You’re really worried, aren’t you?” I asked.

“I’m too worried for words!” He said, covering his face with his hands.

“Cody, I’m going to be fine…trust me. Please?” I asked, removing his hands from his face.

“It’s not that I don’t trust you, I just don’t trust that you’ll be okay. Your dad is freaking insane.” Cody said.

“Mikala said that I can try school for one week and if I don’t like it, I can get home schooled.” I said.

“That’s reasonable, I guess.” Cody said.

It was silent for a couple minutes.

“I just really don’t want to see you getting hurt like that again.” Cody said, breaking the silence.

“Thanks for your concern, but…I’m going to be fine. Really.” I said, smiling.

He smiled at me.

“Alli said you were scared about school. Why?” He asked, changing the subject.

I shrugged.

“I’m just scared of what people will think of me.” I said.

He shook his head.

“Don’t be scared.” He said.

“Why?” I asked.

“Because people will always have their opinions of you despite who you are and what you are capable of. Some people will think negatively about you, while others will absolutely love you. There’s nothing you can really do but ignore it.” Cody said.

I inched my face closer to his and kissed him on the cheek.

“Thank you, Cody.” I said.

“Anytime, Angel.” He said.

I felt myself yawn, and watched as Cody yawned too.

“Ready for bed?” Cody asked.

“I’ve been ready.” I said, laughing.

He laughed as well.

I got up off the chair and headed for the stairs.

Cody shut off all the lights, and caught up to me at the top of the stairs.

I turned the corner to go to Alli’s room, but Cody grabbed my hand and took me to his room instead.

He shut the door behind him as we walked in.

“Alli already told me to tell you that there’s no room in her bedroom because she’s in her bed while Mikala is already on the floor.” Cody said.

I saw Campbell already sound asleep on Cody’s floor.

“But, there’s no room for me in here either.” I whispered.
