20 weeks earlier

Seoyeon was having breakfast when Taeyong walked in, asking around for volunteers to go on a supply run. They were running low on a few items such as soap and women's hygiene products and were hoping to find some in the shops near the seaside. They had sent out scouts earlier in the week to check things out and they'd declared things relatively safe. Therefore, they were able to stay there a while longer to search for the items they were in need of.

Surprisingly enough, even two years after the Outbreak, there were still some products left in the abandoned shops around the country. Living with the Undead pretty much meant survival of the fittest and as more people had died than lived, those few who had survived this long were still able to get supplies that were left behind by others before them.

One person's death could mean the survival of another. It was cruel, but that was just how the world worked these days.

"Tae!" Seoyeon called out, getting up from her seat to walk over to him. "Count me in."

Taeyong snickered, then nodded. He hadn't expected anything different from her.

"Do you need anything else? Are we good on food?" Seoyeon asked as she came to a halt in front of him.

Taeyong's family — himself excluded — were so called 'doomsday peppers' pre-apocalypse. They had started storing canned food and learning about how to preserve food properly long before the zombies came. His entire family had literally saved up enough food, and other useful products, to last them for at least three years.

Of course Seoyeon knew this, but now that the group had extended outside of Taeyong's own family and with the knowledge their three years had slimmed down to having enough for just a few more weeks, she figured she could always ask.

"We don't need anything else at the moment," he replied. "Besides, we don't want you guys to stay out there any longer than necessary."

"You sure? I'm gonna be out there already, I might as well—"

"I'm sure, Seoyeon." Taeyong stated and placed his hand on her shoulder, giving it a light squeeze. "I really appreciate the offer, but we're not risking anything when we're not yet in dire need of more."

Looking up at him, she nodded. The scar next to his right eye was a permanent reminder of how dangerous the world had become, so Seoyeon fully understood the risks of staying out in unknown territory any longer than it was needed.

An hour or so later, Seoyeon and her group arrived near the beach and parked their cars.

Their base was a few kilometers away so they had decided to drive instead of walk. It wasn't something they preferred to do; gas was scarce and they would rather save it in case of an emergency; like being attacked and having to escape quickly. However, Taeyong didn't like having all his good fighters away from the group for too long and driving would get them there and back a lot quicker.

After they had quickly scouted the area, the group divided themselves into three smaller ones of two people and proceeded to search the shops.

Seoyeon was teamed with Jaehyun, a handsome guy just a year younger than herself. If the world hadn't gone bad, he could have easily become a model. He was the true definition of natural beauty. Even in times like these, his golden skin glowed and made everyone around him jealous.

Besides being the group's pretty boy, Jaehyun was one of the better snipers they had ever had and Seoyeon always felt safer paired up with him.

Together they searched through a few shops before they entered, what looked to have been, a souvenir shop. Racks had fallen down, maps, mugs and holiday-cards were spread over the floor and were mostly covered in sand and weeds.
