Briggan was unexpectedly, yet pleasantly surprised with how well Khrysta had been taking the sudden news. He had no idea how she might have reacted and the fact that she had not gone absolutely ballistic made this whole thing very much easier on him.
"I never knew you were-"
"Gay?" Briggan and Mastace finished in unison.
"Yeah," Khrysta replied.
"I didn't know until I realized I fell in love." Briggan said.
"Same thing here. Had no idea until it hit me in the head like a brick."
"Wow, who would've guessed?" Khrysta's eyes darted about a little.
"It was a shock to the both of us as well, I can assure you." Mastace said.
The trio ate the supper which Mastace had prepared for them: garlic butter steak bites with various vegetables and loaded baked potatoes. Khrysta and Briggan very quickly gave their compliments and Mastace only smiled and kept eating.
"Seriously, I haven't had consistently good meals like this in years prior to you moving in, hon."
"You could probably make some decent money off these steak bites," Khrysta chided, to which Mastace only giggled.
"I gotta say," Briggan said, "this is the best time I've had in a long while."
"I'm glad you're enjoying yourself," Mastace said.
"Me too," Khrysta added
"Thanks you guys. It really means a lot to me. This is the happiest I've been in several years."
Mastace placed a paw on Briggan's shoulder. Khrysta just watched the two of them, her heart melting a little and her cheeks warming.
"It's my pleasure, dear, to give you all the happiness you deserve." Mastace said as he leaned in and gave Briggan a quick lick on his forehead, which made the wolf blush and grin a bit. Khrysta couldn't help but give a small giggle.
"What?" Briggan asked.
"Oh, nothing." Khrysta said. "I just noticed how cute you two are together."
Mastace smiled brightly. "Seems someone has finally gotten completely comfortable with our little secret."
"I guess, how many have you told other than me?"
"No one. You're the first to know anything. We keep it low-key in public."
"I understand."
"Let's continue with this dinner party, now shall we?" Briggan asked.
"Sure thing, hon."
