What he never knew

 Flashback to to the Halloween party: IU POV

IU smiled happily as she danced with Chung-Ho and the BTS members. The music blared and everyone danced happily to the beat.

But suddenly the music style shifted and a gentle tune for a slow-dance began to play.  IU couldn't help but giggle, amused as she watched the BTS members manage to dance energetically and chaotically even to such a slow, romantic sound.

She looked around hoping to catch Jungkook joining them in the dance but when she turned to look at him she noticed him turn and run out of the room. Taehyung then followed suit.

IU wanted to follow the two of them to see if they were ok. Just as she was about to go over to them Chung-Ho grabbed her hand.

"Ji-eun-ah where are you going? We're dancing." He pouted. IU giggled slightly at Chung-Ho's cute whiny tone and shook her head. "Jungkook and Taehyung just went off a while ago, I just want to check up on them." She explained. Chung-Ho shook his head and sighed. "This is a party they can have fun and do whatever they want." He told her. But IU bit her lip and stared at the ground still not satisfied. "Jungkook's been seeming a bit down for a while lately. I just want to check on him." She explained undoing his grip on her and making her way towards Taehyung and Jungkook's direction. "Taehyung's with him, I'm sure he'll be enough, leave them be." Chung-Ho insisted. IU paused for a second upon hearing Chung-Ho's words and then carried on her way to Taehyung and Jungkook.

She stood in front of the door to the room Taehyung and Jungkook were in and her eyes widened as she saw tears fall down Jungkook's eyes. She wanted to go over to him and console him but... for some reason something was telling her to stay and listen.

Her eyes widened and her cheeks flushed as their conversation reached her ears. She couldn't believe what she was hearing.

"I'm scared."
"Hyung, you know I like IU...like REALLY like her but she has a secret admirer and I think I might lose her to him."
"Is that all, you lovestruck idiot?"
"She was slow dancing with Chung-Ho and hugging him. It makes me uncomfortable."
"Geez, you're too jealous for your own good."

IU couldn't believe it... this whole time Jungkook liked her. She bit her lips to stop herself from screaming in excitement from the overwhelming rush she felt. She wanted to scream to the hills that her crush liked her back! Words couldn't describe the happiness she felt.

After overhearing the two BTS members conversation IU made her way back into the party hallway contently.

Throughout the rest of the party even though IU tried to behave normally and tried hard not to let on how excited she was she just couldn't think of anything else other than Jungkook. She had to confess to him right away!

She walked back over to Chung-Ho to dance with him again. She didn't want to appear suspicious after overhearing the conversation so she just wanted to continue on how things were before and continued to dance with him.

Not long after, Jungkook came over and tapped her shoulder and nervously asked. "M...may I c... cut in?" IU wanted to say yes but after abandoning Chung-Ho on the dance floor the first time she couldn't help but feel worried that he might get mad after leaving the second time. Just as she was going to sadly reject Jungkook's request Chung-Ho spoke.

"Sure, I was just about to head over to get a drink anyhow, would either of you like something?" IU was so relieved upon hearing him say that. Now she could dance with Jungkook! They both shook their heads.

IU tried her hardest not to be too awkward around Jungkook as the two of them danced. IU felt like she could burst at any moment. She had to think of something to say. 'Come on IU! Compliment him!' She thought to herself.
