Chapter 4 - La Push

Bella was coming round today.

She knew about Victoria being here this weekend after her encounter with Jacob at school the other day.

I wasn't sure what her view on the situation was going be.

My guess is that she'd want us to change her. That's always what she wanted.

But I could barely think of changing her when Kyle consumed my mind. I'd let him go. I'd refused to be with him or change him for Bella and Edward and now they were happy again, leaving me utterly heartbroken for seemingly no reason.

I should never have broken up with Kyle.

Only a few minutes later, Bella and Edward pulled up. Most of us were in the living room anyway, but once they walked through the door the others came to join us.

"Hey, Bella," Alice said as she skipped into the room.
"Hey, Alice."
"So what's up?" Emmett asked Bella. It's not that she never came round for purely a social visit but we knew she had a reason for this.

Kyle. I missed him so much.

"So," Bella started "I know, now," she shot a brief glare at Edward "that Victoria was here this weekend and I don't think we should wait. There's no point leaving me like this to just sit around all delicious waiting for Victoria."

All delicious. Normally I would have laughed at that but now I didn't even manage a smile. My mouth was constantly set in a straight line these days.

Emmett, however, did snort, earning him a smack on the back of the head from Rose.

"There are eight of us, Bella. And with Alice on our side, I don't think Victoria's going to catch us off guard. I think it's important, for Charlie's sake, that we stick with the original plan," Carlisle spoke but Bella didn't seem convinced.

"But it's too dangerous for me to be left human. Someone with like luck shouldn't be left helpless," Bella argued.

Esme stepped forward towards Bella and said  "We'd never allow anything to happen to you, sweetheart. You know that. Please don't be anxious." She pressed a kiss to Bella's forehead yet her words and actions didn't seem to sway Bella very much.

I couldn't see why she was so desperate. Graduation was only a few weeks away.

Emmett's input was not very helpful at all. "I'm really glad Edward didn't kill you. Everything's so much more fun with you around."

Rose glared at him but didn't say anything to Bella.

"But it's better to do it now," Bella insisted "before she can get to me."
"No it's not," I snapped at her, standing up from my chair and stalking towards her. "You have a few more weeks to wait and then you get changed anyway so why does it have to be now? Can't you just sit on that sorry little arse of yours for the next few weeks? It doesn't seem like that big of a challenge."

"Ellie!" Alice hissed from behind me. But that was nothing compared to the viscous growl Edward released.

Even Bella flinched at the sound but I didn't.

I just met Edward's cold stare with equally cold eyes.

"What?" I asked him, taking a step closer "You have a problem with something?"
"You know very well I have a problem with what you just said," he growled.

"Well what are you going to do about it?" I taunted, taking another step closer.
"Ellie, I'm not doing this," he growled.

Suddenly the anger rushed out of me and was replaced with sadness and longing. I longed for someone to be as protective over me as Edward was of Bella. Someone I would protect in return. Someone to love me forever.

I needed Kyle.

"I gave up my mate for you." My voice came out broken.
"I never asked you to do that." Edward's answer surprised me but more so that he still sounded angry, his eyes hard.
"You didn't have to! That's was the point!" I yelled, some of the anger returning.
"Well I told you to get him back; it's not my fault he'd moved away!"

I couldn't handle this anymore.

This was when I needed Edward to be supportive as my brother but all he could say was it wasn't his fault.

I just couldn't face being around everyone right now.

"Wow," I said, my voice breaking "thanks, Edward." I turned and left before he said anything else.

I managed to make it to my room before I broke down in sobs.

I heard Edward and Bella leave only a moment later.

No one came up to my room after Jasper told them I needed some space. He was right, of course. I couldn't be around people at the moment. To be honest, I was close to quitting school. But then, I would still have to be around the others since it was only Alice and Edward at school.

It was getting harder and harder to be able to make it through each day when all I wanted was Kyle.

That weekend, Emmett, Jasper and Edward went away on a hunting trip. Alice and I were also out hunting but we had only gone about 15 minutes away from Forks in case Bella did anything stupid or got into trouble which, knowing her, would most likely happen.

Edward hated leaving her and I understood why, and though we were technically not on the best of terms right now, I had agreed to watch out for Bella with Alice.

So now we were both hunting nearby instead of further away where the food would be much better.

I missed the food in Alaska; everything was so delicious up there. But I would happily never drink from any of those animals again rather than have to go and stay with Tanya to get them.

I was in the middle of draining a buck when suddenly Alice growled "Damn it, Bella!" And took off through the trees.

I immediately dropped the corpse I was holding and raced after her.

"Wanna tell me what's going on?" I asked her as we ran back in the direction of Forks.
"Bella's going to La Push," Alice explained and I had to hold back my growl.

Why?! Why could Bella not see that the wolves were too dangerous to be around?

Suddenly Alice stopped. I had to run back a few paces to where she was stood.

"Why'd you stop?" I asked. "We need to stop Bella."
"Too late. She'll make it there before us. Her decision was too sudden; she wasn't planning on going and then by the time I saw it was too late, she was too close to the boundary."

I sighed. Edward would kill us for this.

Bella has gone to La Push on our watch, to Jacob.

I was not looking forward to when Edward got back.

Hey, so I'm very sorry for the long wait, especially since this ain't a very long chapter. I though it was going to be longer but from where it ended in Eclipse, this is it.

Again, I'm soooo sorry and I will be updating again maybe tonight or at least within the next couple days.

Also, I had a request for a Jacob Black and Edythe Cullen story so I was wondering, if I wrote one, would you guys be interested in reading it?
