"mama can we go play?" a young yang asked her mom. "Of course my little sun dragon just take care of Ruby," summer said washing the dishes. "Ok love you," yang chirped. "C'mon Ruby let's go play!" Yang said leading her sister outside. "Okie ywang," Ruby said grabbing her beowolf plush. Yang chased Ruby into the forest "come back here," yang yelled laughing. "Never!" Ruby shouted back. "Haha you can't catch m- " Ruby said but stopped when she realized yang wasn't there. She realized the surroundings looked unfamiliar. "Y....yang.....mama..... anyone!" Ruby yelled hopping someone would answer. She walked through the woods hopping to find the path. "Hello do you need help?" A man with black hair and red eyes asked. "I....I need to get home," Ruby muttered wiping her tears away. "I'll take you home follow me," he said with a smirk. Ruby took his hand he lead her through the forest. He looked into the small girls eye. Ruby began to feel dizzy before passing out. Ruby awoke in a clearing her neck stung. Ruby saw a small pond nearby. She walked over the pond looking into her reflection. Her skin was paler ,and her ears were now pointed. Ruby stood up "yang!" She yelled. She wandered finally stumbling onto a path she followed it. She finally made it home "MAMA!" She yelled running to the door. The door burst open "Ruby thank the gods!" Summer yelled hugging her daughter. "Ruby I was so worried are you ok?!" Summer frantically asked as Tai and yang came running from the forest. "I....my neck hurts," Ruby muttered. Summer looked at her daughter's neck "oh my gods...." Summer muttered. "Ruby...how did you get this?" Summer asked firmly. "I....a strange man offered to help me and...I looked into his eyes and...I woke up and I looked like this," Ruby said as tears fell from her eyes. "Ruby....you were bitten by a vampire....you are now a... vampire," summer explained pulling Ruby close to her. "Am...am I a monster?" Ruby asked as her family embraced her. "No sweetie you are still the same little girl we still love you we always will," summer said kissing her daughter forehead. "Don't worry sweetie we'll help you get through this," Tai said with a kind smile.

10 mouths later

"Mommy why do you have to go?" Ruby asked clutching her beowolf plush. "Because I'm a huntress I have to help people who can't help themselves," summer explained hugging her two daughters. "Don't worry I'll only be gone for a few days," summer said holding her daughter's. "Ok...but you'll come back.... right?" Ruby asked her pointing ears lowering. "of course sweetheart I'll be back before you know it," summer said ruffling up Ruby's hair. Ruby and yang giggled "ok kids how about we let mommy go on her mission," Tai said. "Ok papa!" Yang and Ruby said in unison. "Goodbye honey," summer said kissing Tai "ewwww," yang and Ruby yelled in disgust. "Oh almost forgot I got you two a gift," summer said grabbing a large box. Yang and Ruby opened the box and out popped a puppy. "awwwww he's so cute!" Ruby said hugging the small black and white puppy. "What are you two gonna name him?" Tai asked. The two sisters look at each other "ZWEI!" they both yelled in unison. "Hmmmm well I have to get going I love you guys," summer said waving goodbye as she walked down the path. "Bye mama see you soon!" Ruby yelled.

4 weeks later

Ruby was sitting in her usual spot beside the window waiting for her mother. "Hey sis...." Yang said walking over to her sister. "Hi yang," Ruby said not removing her gaze from the window. "Yang....when is mommy coming back?" Ruby asked. "I...I don't know sis but I'm sure she'll be back soon," yang mumbled hugging her sister. Suddenly qrow burst through the door "uncle qrow what are you doing here?" Yang asked. "I...I need to talk to your dad," qrow said sadly. "Qrow what is it?" Tai asked entering the room with a worried expression. Qrow and Tai walked into the dining room shutting the door. Yang turned to Ruby with a worried expression "yang....what's going on?" Ruby asked. "I...I don't know just...go to you room ok..." Yang said. Ruby went upstairs she could hear her dad yelling from downstairs. Yang entered Ruby's room with tear streaming down her cheeks. "Yang what's wrong?" Ruby asked as yang hugged her tightly. "Mom's....not coming....home," yang muttered as tear fell from her eyes. Ruby felt her heart drop "w....what," Ruby asked as tears began to well up in her eyes. Ruby began to sob into her sisters shoulder "I'm...sorry Ruby...." Yang muttered.

Ten years later

"Ruby wake up~" yang chirped Ruby opened her eyes with tears. Yang frowned "did...you have the dream again?" Yang asked with a concerned expression. "Y....yeah," Ruby mumbled looking away. Yang hugged Ruby "I'm sorry Ruby I know you miss her..." Yang mumbled. Weiss overheard this from her bunk. "I'm fine yang c'mon we should get ready," Ruby mumbled wiping her tears away. Ruby walked into the bathroom and took a shower and brushed her teeth. Weiss and Blake still didn't know that she was a vampire it was hard to keep it a secret due to her needing to feed on blood. Ruby walked out of the bathroom coming face to face with Weiss. "Oh morning Weiss," Ruby said in a calm voice. "Good morning Ruby," Weiss said with a small smile. Weiss walked into the bathroom Ruby gathered her books and left the room. Ruby walked down the halls "this place is so huge" Ruby thought to herself. Suddenly she bumped into someone dropping all her books. "Watch where the hell you going!" Cardin yelled grabbing her by the collar and slamming her against a locker. "L...let go of me!" Ruby shouted. "Tsk why should I...I know who your family is how your mom was killed because she was weak," Cardin said with a smirk. Ruby's eyes filled with tears as she hung her head. "Tsk pathetic," Cardin said letting her go and walking away. Ruby sat down and brought her knees to her chest. She began to cry into her knees. "Ruby!" Yang yelled running to her side along with Blake and Weiss. "Ruby what happened?!" Yang asked. "C...Cardin said mom died because....she was weak like me..." Ruby mumbled not looking at her friends. "Ruby......mom lost her life saving people she's.....a hero," yang said hugging her sister. "I.....I need to be alone!" Ruby yelled using her semblance to run away. Ruby made it to the roof she sat down her pointed ears dropping down. Ruby buried her head in her knees as tears fell from her eyes. After half an hour she heard the roof top door opened. Ruby turned her head and her silver eyes met icy blue eyes. "Ruby are....you ok," Weiss asked sitting down next to the red caped girl. "Not... really my mom....is a really sensitive topic for me and what...Cardin said really hurt," Ruby said looking off into the horizon. "She was my hero...baker of cookies and slayer of monsters...she's the reason I wanted to be a huntress...I wanted to help people just like her," Ruby said with a small smile. "She was always there for me no matter what I did heh one time I took some lien just to buy a stupid pack of gum she just smiled and told me not to do it again," Ruby said with a small smile. Ruby took off her emblem badge "this...was the last thing she gave me before....she left," Ruby said sadly as a few tears fell onto her emblem. Ruby wiped her tears away "I'm sorry Weiss you shouldn't have to be dragged into my dumb problems," Ruby muttered. Weiss suddenly pulled Ruby into a hug "your problems aren't dumb Ruby I'm your partner and your friend I'm here for you," Weiss mumbled happily. Ruby smiled and hugged Weiss's back "thank you ice queen," Ruby said teasing Weiss a bit. "Hey! Don't call me that you dolt," Weiss yelled crossing her arms. "Ok ok I'm sorry," Ruby said with a smile. Weiss stood up and extended her hand to Ruby "c'mon dolt we have to head to class," Weiss said leading Ruby to class. "She's still holding my hand...so cute" Ruby thought to herself with a small smile. Ruby sat in class listening to Dr. Ooblecks lecture "how is he so...fast" Ruby thought as she watched the green haired man run around the room. Ruby felt like someone was staring at her she turned her head. Cardin and his team were glaring at her Cardin had a black eye. "What did yang do..." Ruby glanced at yang who had a bandaged fist "DAMNIT YANG" ruby thought as she turned to face the board. the bell rang everyone got up for lunch Ruby snuck away to her dorm. She opened a small tear in her mattress where she stored blood. Ruby extended her fangs digging them into the blood pouch sucking the delicious red liquid. Her eyes glowed red as she drank the red liquid. Ruby sighed as she threw the blood bag away in a hidden garbage can. Ruby wiped the blood from her mouth as she pulled her fangs back in. Ruby sighed "I'm going to have to tell them someday..." Ruby thought as she looked in the mirror. "Not...yet" Ruby thought as she left the room.
