Yen's POV
The atmosphere felt a little colder than ever. We just lost an amazing human in our lives. My family cried one last time as we watched my dad's coffin getting lowered to the ground as men covered it with dirt. A series of farewells is what I last heard before I find myself completely zoned out from taking everything that's happening. Life has its ups and downs. We can't predict what's gonna happen next. We gamble every waking second and the answer isn't always guaranteed. The least we could do is savor each moment.
I let out a deep sigh as I hug my dad's portrait. I looked at it, smiling whenever my eyes land on every pristine feature of his youthful face. I have always been his little girl. This is goodbye for now, Dad. You will never be forgotten. I will love you forever. A tear fell on the glass, covering the portrait, as I quickly wiped it with my finger.
A sniffle escaped followed by another deep sigh that released the tension coming from my chest. I closed my eyes, giving myself a little moment to reevaluate when I felt someone's hand cupping my back. I looked back at the person and see Damien. A smile was brought to my face the moment our eyes locked gazes. This man always makes sure I'm feeling well, safe, happy and loved.
As each waking moment pass I see myself spending the rest of my days with him. I want to so badly to the point that I would give up everything I have in New York just to be with him. As selfish as it sounds, he's all I need in this cruel world. He's everything I ever asked for and all of this happened with a little break from work. A little vacation to see an outlook of how life is more than just work and seriousness.
I can say I'm most happiest when with him, people can vouch for me. He brings me in for a warm comforting hug and I hugged him back, savoring the moment. "I'm so sorry, Yen. My condolences." We stayed like that for a little longer before I've decided to let go from the hug. "Do you want to grab dinner later?" I asked as I popped in a little smile.
His eyes enlarged with the words that came out of my mouth. "I would love to, but are you okay? I wouldn't wanna stress you out on planning everything. I can do it and you can just re-" "Damien." I interrupted him. "Yes, baby?" he called, worry still visible in his eyes. Him calling me baby never fails to send chills to my body. "I'm fine, please. Take this as a token of my appreciation for everything you've ever done to me." I reasoned. His eyes filled with concern, wanting to refuse the offer yet he gives in easily. "Fine. I would love to go on a date with you, Ms. Easton." He said, placing his hands behind my back as we watch the service ends.
Everyone went on their own paths. We followed my mom and sister back to the house as Damien and I assisted them of cleaning up. "Would you guys love to stay for dinner?" My mom asked. "No thanks, Mama. Damien and I have plans, besides you need some rest. I'll come visit tomorrow morning before we go back to LA." I said, hugging her. "Stay safe, Yen. I can't lose you too." She weeped. "Of course, ma. You too, okay?" I whispered back. We let go from the hug and waved goodbye. We closed the door behind us and found our way out of the house.
I booked an Uber and pinned it to 15th Ave. "So, baby. Where are we going?" Damien asked. "You'll see." I said, smiling. He looked at me and smiled as well. "You look so beautiful when you smile, Yen." He said. I can feel my face starting to heat up. Once again, I'm falling deeply inlove with this man. He was about to say something but immediately stopped himself, I wonder what it was. I won't force him to tell me if he's not ready yet.
We got in the car and the driver took us to the place. He noticed some familiar places such as the hotel they stayed at and the hall they performed at. It brought small smiles on his face and I can't help but smile too. The car came to a stop and there I saw his eyes lit up even more. We paid the driver and got out of the vehicle. There the sign KOJI ASAKAYA was seen. It's a japanese restaurant and I heard him complain a few days ago of wanting to eat japanese food for the heck of it.
