"Daddy..Can you hear me?..I beg you to please wake up..I can't lose you like I lost mom..Please dad open your eyes". My heart was shattered and my senses were numbed. It was difficult to watch my Father laying on a hospital bed completely unconscious. The doctor said he had hit a coma and wouldn't wake up. The accident he was involved in was that gruesome. They gave the decision to Petra if she wanted to disconnect him.
All three of us begged her to keep him connected to the life support machine. Unfortunately the cost to keep him connected was far from our reach. It was then that we all found out how ruined we were economically. My father had invested the last he had in that same business meeting he had gone too. So we were left with nothing but the Mansion we lived in. Even though we all wanted to get rid of it to help pay with the medical bills Petra didn't allow it.
Everything was under her name and my Fathers so there was nothing we were able to do about it. Suddenly Petra walked inside the room and quietly said to me "I need to have a word with you outside". I didn't want to leave my Fathers side not even for one bit. Yet I stood up and walked behind her. I needed to try and convince her to sell the Mansion so we could save my Dads life. I knew it didn't matter to her but he was all Josh Britney and I had left. We couldn't lose him.
"Petra I'm begging you! Please let's sell the Mansion"
"And then what Jade!? Huh? You think that money is going to last forever?"
"Don't say that!! He will wake up! He has too!"
"Well meanwhile you believe in fairy tales and happy endings I found a solution"
"What did you find!?"
"Simple. You have two choices. Either you let your Father die without giving him a chance to fight..or"
"Or what!?"
"You marry Cedric Wesley"
"WHAT!? Why do you always find a way to shove him in any situation!? How is that gonna help!?"
"Listen to me Jade!! The doctor expects an answer today! Cedric is our answer to our problems! He can take care of the bills and he can take care of the rest of the family financially!"
I turned away from her and rested my head against the wall. I felt like I was about to faint after hearing everything. My head was spinning and I felt nauseous. No matter what corner I turned too Cedric Wesley seemed to always be the solution. I felt like I was going insane. No matter how much I tried to run from him he appeared before me like nothing. I didn't want to accept it. I couldn't force myself to say anything at all. I felt disgusted with myself for simply standing by and hearing it all.
I couldn't imagine tying myself along his side forever. I didn't want that type of life for me. Even if Landon was out of my reach I didn't want to end up this way. Living a lie. Petra walked close behind me and with a careless tone in her voice she said "See this as a temporary sacrifice Jade. Once your Father wakes up you can regain your freedom. Until then...You are our only hope..His hope".
I saw her point her finger towards my Dads room. Silent tears fell down my face as I knew what had to be done.
