Eleven Days Earlier, 5.March.2020, 9:47 PM

I was moved through the long unfamiliar corridor beside me that young redheaded girl looking at me from now and then as if she were asking for my own help with her tired red eyes from crying or weeping. That broke my heart a little then we got moved to separate corridors and by that she had left with them.

They let go of my arms once we were in a room similar to the one I was in that morning in the hospital, they were two men wearing all white with all the necessary equipment they had to put on to deal with someone infected like me, on the other hand I wasn't wearing a mask.

I was in the quarantine Hospital!

I sat on the clean sheet of the bed, letting go of my tired body, at that moment the pain in my chest was soothed a little bit and I was able to breathe normally. They left me without a word, minutes passed until there was knock on my door followed by a man entering the room, also wearing all these medical equipment. I could assume from the way he walked that he was Doctor. I couldn't see his facial features clearly  but I could say that he was smiling formally with soothing look in addition to that, he was holding a stack of papers in file.

"I'm Dr. Brian Benjamin. I will be your personal doctor from now till you get better ." He said formally. I didn't respond, only drawing a grateful smile on my face. I never liked doctors, always feared them because their presence in my life only indicated that someone I cared about  would die.

"How are you feeling now, Mrs Wilson?" He asked.

"I am okay, I think"

"Do you suffer from shortness of breath right now?"

"No"

"Do you have pain in your chest?"

"No"

"Good, good! we will give you some vitamins and antibiotics, The nurse will be here any minute and I will check up on you everyday."

"Good."

"In addition, There is a big room we've made where all people here in the hospital could sit and talk, from 9 AM to 5 PM but you won't be able to enter that room unless you wear the mask." Pointing to the mask on the table beside me.

I simply nodded! They made that room so infected people wouldn't commit a suicide while being here as way of psychological therapy or treatment through all this pressure.

I gotta say, it's nice idea!  very smart too.

He was looking up at the file in his hands, now and then and said in the end, reassuring me, "Mrs. Wilson, you will be just fine! no need to panic! I know it must be hard to be away from your family  right now but the indications we have here now is really good. You will be just fine."

"Thank you, Dr. Benjamin"

"Please call me, Brian." He said, formally with a soft tone, I smiled involuntarily.

"Okay, Brian." He turned around after writing  something in that file leaving but I asked him,

"Brian, Can I ask you something?"

"Yeah, Go ahead!"

"Will these vitamins cure me?"

His eyes were expressionless, I couldn't read them.

"Yes, they will if you believe that they can." His voice was hesitant , which made me believe he was lying or unsure of his answer.

"Is there a vaccine, Dr?!"

"Scientists are working on that right now, Margaret but as I had mentioned before you will be perfectly fine." By that, he excused himself and left with nothing but unsatisfying answers.

I looked at the mask sitting on the table and then rested my body on the bed and called it a night.  I am going to be okay, I thought

The following day 6.March.2020, 10:43 AM

After the nurses had come and given me some pills and some food as well, I grabbed my mask, looking  at my reflection in the mirror, A woman in her mid forties with bags around her dark eyes wearing white clothes over her pale skin, wrinkles taking place around her eyes as well.

I put on the mask after inhaling freely, my shoulders swaying involuntarily. "It's just another day! You can do it"I said to the reflection in front of me, turning my back to it and moving to the door.

The corridor was long, blank with tall white walls and filled with emptiness just as I felt when I got here, I heard smooth steps behind me so I turned around to see the young girl from yesterday. She was was wearing white as well with her well brushed long curly red hair.

She was wearing mask as well but I could see she was calmer and quieter than yesterday. I said, "I saw you yesterday."

"Yeah! I saw you too!" She said, now we were walking beside each other leaving a good distance between us.

"What is your name?"

"Lili"

"I'm Margaret!"

She looked at me with her terrified eyes, She was young and innocent from the way she was handling the situation. I let her have her silent moment.

"They told me about this room where everyone meets everyone but I don't socialize very well around people I don't know." She said after a while of silence.

"I'm with you, Kid!" Then i added, "By the way, how old are you?"

"I'm seventeen years old."

"You are so young" I said briefly smiling , I thought she was in her twenties or something. However, she turned out to be younger.

"well I'm going to be eighteen next month, not so young after all." I smiled for her response.

"It's going to be okay, Lili"

"I really hope so."

This corridor was either so long or we moved very slowly, I couldn't figure out which one was right but Somehow, I felt like I was responsible for her especially because I am a mother myself.

"I think we're gonna be friends." I simply said.

"Me too." she replied, happier than before.
