Chapter 13: The Moon and The Night

*Xylo's POV*

Today was dark day, the man I once considered a brother was now buried under the ground in which I stand upon. The death of Mario hit us all hard, but not as hard as me. We may had our differences in the past but at the end of the day we were family. Now all I could do was stand there looking down upon his grave. First Micheal kills Mario and now he stole Rae away from me, my mind is clouded with just anger, rage, but mostly sorrow and melancholy. Everyone asked me if I was ok, if I needed anything. But unfortunately the only person that could make this situation any easier was taken by the devil himself. I need answers, I need to know what I should do, I need to talk to the ancestors. Once I'm at The Pillar of our Ancestors I sat at the centered and did what I did the last time I did this. Like last time it was night the full moon was out and there stood the wolf I saw the last time I was here.

Zang: "Hello Xylo"
Xylo: "You knew didn't you"
Zang: "We knew that those vile creatures would come to your pack but we didn't know what the outcome would be"
Xylo: "But you had your suspicions on what would happen didn't you, that why you made me Beta, so I could take his place"
Zang: "Sadly yes young wolf, as much as we didn't want it to happen we had to prepare for the worst outcome, and sadly it came"
Xylo: "But why?"
Zang: "That's just life, as much as we all want to live for a long time eventually death comes for us all"
Xylo: "No, not why did he died. Why did you choose me? Why make me his replacement? Why not Bryan he's strong or Relena she's smart, WHY ME!?"

I had tears going down my face

Zang: "The reason why we chose you was because you have a good heart"
Xylo: "No I don't, I couldn't protect Mario, or. . . . or Rae" I said with more tears rolling down my face
Xylo: "Incase you've forgotten I'm part demon! I am filled with nothing but darkness!"
Zang: "Xylo" he said calmly
Zang: "I want you look up into the sky, look past the stars and tell me what do you see"
Xylo: "There's nothing, just darkness"
Zang: "Yes, you claimed that you are filled with darkness, so tell me Xylo is the night sky evil"
Xylo: "No, as a matter of fact it is beautiful"
Zang: "That it is, you see Xylo you said that you are filled with darkness, but just like the night sky there is still light within you, we chose you because comparing you to everyone else, there darkness is only lit up by stars, but you Xylo, your darkness is lit up by the moon. Your heart is the moon that shines through that darkness and it is beautiful. You must accept the darkness as you did with the light, don't restrain or control it, direct it, let it flow through you so you may stand above those who will bring harm to those who you love and cherish. Little wolf is time to learn to howl.
Xylo: "But how? How can I protect Pack Haven and save Rae"
Zang: Sigh "I am sorry Xylo but only you can answer that question"

I have many mixed emotions going on in me. I was feeling sad from the lost of a brother and a lover, Anger for the Devil for kidnaping Rae, relief that I'm not a monster. But there was one feeling that was coursing through my veins. . . . I was feeling tenacious. I will fight the Devil and I will win, I'll lead Pack Haven into a world of peace, and once I bring Rae back, once this is all over I will Mark her as my mate. I will marry her and no one will ever harm her again, not while I breathe.

Xylo: "Thanks Zang"
Zang: "For what young one"
Xylo: "For helping me get the motivation I need to tear the devil down and save the ones I love"

Zang just smiled at me, a genuine smile.

Zang: "Then go little wolf, go and save the your mate and your pack. Once you leave our world you will be the Alpha of Pack Haven"
Xylo: "Then I will lead our pack to the best of my abilities"
Zangk: "Before you go there is someone here who wishes to talk to you"

Zang then moved off to the side to reveal someone was behind him tbe entire time during our conversation.

Xylo: "Mario?"
Mario: "Hey Xylo, I see that you gave me a proper burial" he said while smiling
Xylo: "Mario. . . . I'm so sorry. . . I couldn't save you"
Mario: "Xylo my death is not your fault, I died doing what I was born to do and now it is your turn to take my place"
Xylo: "I-I'll do my best Alpha"
Mario: "Xylo remember you are Alpha now and know this even in death I will always watch over Pack Haven. And I will always be by your side. . .brother"

I got a bit teary eyed from that. Then Mario smiled

Mario: "Also one more thing Xylo if you're going to be the leader of Pack Haven you'll need to look the part"
Xylo: "What do you mean?"
Mario: Chuckled "You'll see, when you go back go to my cabin, on my desk there'll be a box with something in it, something that I want you to have"
Xylo: "Ok"
Mario: "Now go save your girl"

I couldn't help but chuckle a bit, I slowly closed my eyes and once I opened them again I was back to Pack Haven. It was dark so everyone was asleep so I decided to head over to Mario's cabin and sure enough there was the box sitting on his desk. I slolwly walked up the box seeing it illuminated from the moonlight. I opened the box to see something I never thought I'll be able to wear. It was Mario's hat, I couldn't help but laugh as tears fell from my cheeks. But these tears weren't of sadness, no they were tears of love and joy. I decided to put on the hat and whispered "Thank you brother". Now, there is one thing left for me to do, get my mate back. I grabbed everything I needed for the fight against he mutants and the devil, I had my hand crafted sword made out of steel and silver with a red ruby in the middle of the handle. I then strapped on both the Claws of the Pack, I moved my hand around as they fit like a glove. . . or a gauntlet in this case. I had my crossbow strapped on my back with bolts, and finally I had silver daggers strapped to both of my legs.

Xylo: "Hang on Princess, I'm coming"

I ran through the woods as fast as I can, I passed Mythspire and I waited at the spot where Micheal demanded me to be at. I waited for a little while for him to make an appearance but he hasn't. I was starting to get worried until I smelled them, I remember the smell of those mutants, the devil, but most importantly my Princess. I whipped my head towards them as I saw Rae being held and tied up while Micheal was just smirking at me.

Xylo: "LET HER GO!!!" I growled between my teeth
Micheal: "Oh what fun will that be? No, if you want your precious Witch then you are gonna have to fight for her."

As he said this the mutants started to surround me.

Xylo: "Well if it's a fight you want"

I took out both of my silver daggers

Xylo: "Then it's a fight you'll get"
