Emily's POV
"You know, after doing this all day, it's tiring," Brad said. We were on our way to the ranch. Brad was giving me a piggyback ride.
"I didn't ask for this," I said.
"Dude, hand her over," Mark said. I was moved to Mark's back, and he started running.
"Meet you guys at the ranch," I shouted at them. They all then started running. When we got to all the horses: India, Jack, Speedy, Quinn, and Secret, were tacked up. In the ring, I saw jumps set up. I went into the barn and grabbed my helmet, I dropped my bag on some hay, then went back to India.
"Why are jumps set up?" John asked. I mounted onto India.
"Mom said that I could do show jumping today." I nudged India into a walk and opened the door to the ring. I look behind me and see them climbing onto the horses. I nudged India into a gallop and we did the course. We went flying and only made one mistake.
"Woah." I heard the boys say. I smiled. I patted India's neck.
"Perfect," I said to her. Mark and Secret tried the course. They did pretty good for their first time. Only made two mistakes.
"Have you done this before?" John asked.
"Nope, first time. But when my parents got me Secret, his old owners said that he was born to do showjumping." Mark said. John went next. He and Jack knocked over every railing.
"Jack was made to do western riding." He said.
"Jack's a Thoroughbred," I said.
"Our turn," Brad said. He and Speedy went through the course fast, and with no mistake. When they stopped my mouth was dropped open.
"That was better than Mark and Secret. It was better than Emily and India." John said.
"Did I forget to mention that Speedy and I did show jumping at our old barn?" Brad asked.
"Uh ya you did," I said. "Your turn Max," I said.
"Does someone else want to go? Or maybe you want to give it a go on Dusty?" He asked.
"GO!!" We all yelled.
"On it." He mumbled. He nudged Quinn into a gallop and they went through the course. Everything was perfect. Perfect form, perfect run through. When he was done, he stopped Quinn and looked at us.
"Damn, that was better than me," Brad said.
"My parents sent me to a show jumping, dressage academy. I started when I was four and I stopped when I was ten. I hated it because everyone was so snobby and preppy. They also hurt their horse and would blame a mistake or a loss on the horse." He said.
"What is this place?" Brad asked.
"Stanford Academy." He said. Oh, shoot. I know that place.
"Don't say that in front of my parents. They've been looking at that place since I won a first place ribbon for the first time." I said.
"But you're like the glue in our friendship." They all said. We were all quiet after that. We went through the course multiply times. Dad came out.
"The trick or treaters will be out soon. And for the movies, I got the sweets for you kiddos. And mom made sure that the kids got their candy." He said. That was his sign of saying enough riding. We all got off of the horses and brought them to the barn. When we brushed them down, Tony gave them their food and water and put the blankets on them. We all went inside, and Tony went out of the barn and started walking towards the orphanage.
"Hey, Tony, why don't you join us." I offered. He looks to me, then back in the direction of the orphanage. He then followed me inside the house. We all got comfy in the living room. Dad gave us bowls of candy. He handed me the remote and I turned on Netflix.
"Tony, you should've gone back home," John said.
"Why?" Tony asked.
"Because you're going to get nightmares for a week," Max said. I clicked on my Netflix profile and it showed what I watch. Supernatural, American Horror Story, and my collection of Horror movies I watched. I clicked on the Conjuring, and the movie started. I heard all the boys whimper. As for me, I smiled. Happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me, happy birthday dear Emily. Happy birthday to me.
