Emily's POV
We started to clean up the ranch. We pretty much ended it, when the last kid finished their ride. Then a woman and her daughter came in, the woman started to talk to dad.
"Isn't that Addie from school?" Mark asked.
"Ya. I think that is her." Max said. Ben started to laugh.
"What is the matter with you?" I asked and snapped at him.
"She's weird." He said. Ryan shook his head.
"She has Autism." He snapped. Dad jogged over to us.
"Who's willing to give Addie a ride?" Dad asked.
"She is not riding Thunder. I won't let her." Ben said. I rolled my eyes.
"I will," I said. Dad smiled at me. Probably because I was being the mature one. He jogged back over to Addie's mom, and her mom brought Addie over to me.
"Behave," I said to Dusty. He nodded. Addie smiled at me.
"Hi, Emily." She said. I smiled back.
"Hi, Addie. This is Dusty, and we're going to give you a ride." I said. She had a huge grin.
"I'm excited." She said. Her mom helped her onto Dusty, and I gave Addie the reins. I pulled on Dusty's bridle and he started walking. "I'm sorry about what happened." She said. I puffed a sigh. That's one sentence I heard way too many times. It was getting annoying.
"It's fine," I said.
"You know, my mom said that everything happens for a reason. What if this was a sign." Addie said. I was quiet after that. I was upset that she thought that India dying was a sign. But what if she was right? Not that India dying, but saying that I should move on from here? "Thanks for the ride, Emily," Addie said. I looked up. I didn't realize we stopped.
"No problem," I said. Addie hugged me, then walked away with her mom. I kept thinking about what she said. "Everything happens for a reason," I said to myself.
"Hey, Emily. I need to talk to you." Dad said. I walked over to him. Preparing for whatever this talk was.
