chapter 1: lucine foster

third person's.

Eyes were all placed on her as she walked down the hallway with her head down low. Her hands gripped tightly on her books, scared that her bullies might be waiting for her.

She gulped as she saw a pair of feet in front of her, making her stop walking. She looked at the person in front of her with fear. She doesn't have any idea how or why they suddenly turned their back on her.  It was as if she were a black sheep that was accidentally placed in a flock of white sheep.

She just became a target. Something that she never expected to happen.

She feared for her actions as they watched her every moves; it was like a parent guarding their child 24/7, except that it was her schoolmates, of course.

The person gave her a smirk before walking away, something that caused her to be even more nervous. That's new; someone just walked away from her. She continued walking with fear still in her. Her palms became sweaty as her anxiety grew even larger. Whispers and laughs are heard.

"Are they talking about me?" She asked in her head as she stopped in front of her locker. She let out a deep breath as her fingers ran through the sticky notes that were placed in her locker.

'go die.'
'you're such a nerd.'

These were the words that were mostly written in those sticky notes. But today, something was not right. Everything seems.. fishy?

She's used to seeing sticky notes placed on her locker, but something's just not right. She sighed as she closed her eyes before opening up her locker. An unpleasant smell welcomed her, and the laughter of the other students echoed throughout the long hall.

It smelled like a fish.

She closes her eyes once more before taking a deep breath. She quickly grabs her book, dashing out of the scene. She doesn't know how the bullying started. It was so random. Her friends started getting away from her, and she started hearing things about her that were all not true. But no one believed her; no one trusted her anymore.

They all turned their backs on her. So randomly that she thought it was a prank at first, but it was not. If it was a prank, then they're going too far. But it isn't; with what's going on with her life, she started wishing for it to be just a prank. Her friends were all just messing with her, just like in the old days. She felt her eyes water, but she removed those thoughts from her head and continued to walk to her first class.
