"I just don't understand why you didn't tell me earlier."

"I didn't want you to get hurt."

"Get hurt? Why do you think not telling me you and Laf have a ghost friend I didn't know about hanging out with us would've kept me from being hurt?"

"Because I didn't want you to think I was crazy!"

Adam looked at me, a confused look on his face.

"Crazy? (Y/N) I wouldn't think that. Would I question it? Yes. But I wouldn't think you were crazy." Adam grabbed my hand, squeezing it in a reassuring manner. I looked at him, smiling softly.

"I'm sorry. I really didn't want to hurt you, or BJ. Or Lafayette. It's all just... Confusing." I shook my head, looking down.

"(Y/N)... I'm sorry too and I understand that you're trying to protect us. How long have you known him?"

"Since I got here. The night after the party, he was in my dorm."

"Wait, your dorm-"

"Yeah... It was..." I thought back to that night, smiling softly. "Nice."

"Nice?"

"As in he was nice. He was fun to talk to. I threatened him and he was calm about it." I remember holding up the lamp, but something in that memory seemed to be missing... I don't know what it is.

"You threatened him and now you trust him? (Y/N) that isn't exactly a good idea."

"He's my friend."

"No, he's not. He could kill you in an instant."

"No, he can't! He wouldn't do that."

"And how can you be so sure?"

"Because I just know!"

There was a pause of awkward silence. I glanced at Adam, who was looking at the ground. I looked around the garden we sat in as I searched for something to say.

"I-"

"I have class. So I gotta go." Adam said suddenly, standing up abruptly. He looked at me one more time, then walked away.

I sat in silence, listening to the traffic of the city and looked at the dozens of colorful flowers surrounding me.

"Well?"

I looked up slowly at BJ, who now sat next to me. I couldn't meet his eyes, feeling ashamed for betraying Adam by keeping BJ around and for betraying BJ who I trust more than anyone.

"Well, he's mad."

"What did he say?" BJ waited for me to speak. I sat there, confused. I didn't know what to say, so I bent the truth a little.

"He just said that he didn't like how we didn't tell him about you."

"And?"

"And... That he wants to get to know you... But doesn't know how because he can't see you."

"Oh... Cool. Well, I can find a way to talk to him. But for now, you'll just have to translate for me."

I looked at him, making immediate eye contact. He smiled softly and butterflies erupted in my stomach. I looked away quickly, trying me best to hide my blush.

"BJ, if you don't mind... I'd like to be alone for a bit." I stared at the ground, hundreds of thoughts going through my head.

"Oh... Of course. Remember, if you need me, say my name once. Unless-"

"Unless it's an emergency." I giggled, looking at him.

He smiled and nodded, staring at me before he disappeared in a puff of green smoke.

I sat in the garden for about an hour, thinking. Besides the sound of traffic and chirping of birds everything around me was silent. So silent that my own thoughts were screaming at me. I nearly had a panic attack before Lafayette suddenly showed up.

"Hey, (Y/N). Tue okay?" He jolted me out of my thoughts, making both me and him jump at my sudden awareness.

"What? Yeah... I'm fine..."

"What's wrong?"

"I talked to Adam about BJ. He was mad and said that I shouldn't trust him. I couldn't bring myself to tell BJ the truth. Now he thinks Adam is excited to get to know BJ."

"Adam cannot see BJ. Il est invisible to Adam." He pointed out with a confused look.

"I know... But I'll figure something else out." I'm pretty sure Lafayette knew something else was on my mind just by the way he was looking at me.

He sat down on the bench, looking at me with concern. I couldn't pay much attention, my thoughts taking over everything else.

"What else is bothering tue?" He waited patiently for me to answer.

I looked up at him, tears in my eyes. When I spoke, my voice seemed to break.

"I think I'm in love with BJ."
