My alarm blared loudly, making me groan in frustration. I tried to roll over, but something lumpy was stopping me from doing so. Out of instinct, I rolled on my other side in attempt to see who was beside me, but I rolled off my bed.

"(Y/N)! Holy shit, are you okay?"

I looked up to see BJ getting off my bed to pick me up.

"You set my alarm?!"

"Uh... Yeah? You needed to get up and get ready for your da- daaa-... Meeting with Adam."

I glared at him as I turned off my alarm.

"Fine." I grunted as I stood up and stretched, my back popping a couple times. I straightened my clothes, glancing at the clock. I had about 30 minutes left.

"So, are you gonna go with your hair like that, or what?" BJ asked me, smirking. I furrowed my eyebrows, walking to look in the mirror.

My hair was a mess. I looked like I took a 100 year nap and wouldn't stop tossing and turning. I huffed and grabbed my brush.

"Do you think I should put my hair up, or leave it down?" I asked BJ while brushing my hair. He was quiet as he studied my hair.

"Down, leave it down."

I nodded, then set my brush back on my desk. "Okay... I'm ready." I looked at the clock again, 15 minutes. "How do I look?" I looked over at BJ, who was trying to make sense of a book he was holding upside down. He looked up at me and we locked eyes.

"Pretty..." He said softly, smiling. I smiled back at him, opening my mouth to say something when he stopped me, "good. Pr-pretty good." He cleared his throat and nodded, going back to the book.

I felt disappointed and confused. "Oh... Okay, thank you." I put on a fake smile, then continued to get my stuff together. I grabbed my wallet, phone and put them into the purse I never use. "Alright. I'm ready. Wanna walk with me?"

BJ looked up, putting the still open book in his hand. I only then realized, not only was it upside down, but he was reading it backwards. "Sure." He shrugged and placed the book on the bed.

We left the dorms and walked towards the library, where I saw Adam waiting. I panicked, thinking I was late. As I began to walk faster, I looked at the time. He was early.

"First date jitters?" BJ joked, smirking. I rolled my eyes, blushing softly.

"Sure. Let's go with that." I made it to the tree, getting Adam's attention, who was reading a book on the bench under the tree.

"Oh, so he can read but I can't?" BJ asked in an offended tone.

"Good morning, (Y/N)." Adam stood up, stuffing the book in his bag.

"Morning, Adam." I smiled and to my surprise, we hugged with no awkwardness between us.

"Are you ready? I know this little cafe we could go to, thought I'd show you my little hideout." He explained, smiling softly.

"Of course. I'd love to get to know New York better. More than the major attractions that Google lists, at least." I smiled when Adam chuckled, then we started walking.

We talked about random things as we walked off campus and down the street. We made it to a cute little cafe called Piccolo Cafe.

We walked in and I was at awe of the decor. It was cute and the aesthetic was cozy and acquainted in a strange way.

I smiled as Adam led me to a table towards the corner, as a boy around our age greeted Adam from behind the counter. "So you're well known here?" I asked, smiling at him.

"Yeah... I come here a lot to gather my thoughts or simply just to relax. College life, y'know?" He smiled and I chuckled. We spent a few seconds of eye contact before the same person who greeted us earlier came over.

"Hey, Adam. And Adam's friend. You're name is..?" He looked at me and smiled softly.

"(Y/N). (Y/N) (Y/L/N)." He smiled and nodded.

"Well, welcome to the Piccolo Cafe, (Y/N), I'm Charles. What would you like to eat and or drink?" He looked at Adam, a knowing smile on his face. "And I'm guessing you want an iced coffee and spaghetti?"

"Of course." Adam smiled, looking at me expectantly.

"I'll have the same." I confirmed and Charles walked away.

"How's the spaghetti here?" I asked, leaning in towards the table a bit.

"The best in New York, trust me." He winked. I giggled and we made small talk as we waited for our food.

"That was a really nice lunch, thank you, Adam." I smiled as we got back to campus.

"Oh, of course. It was my pleasure. Thank you for coming with me." He looked down at me, a small smile and a light blush on his face.

"Anytime." I looked at him, blushing as well.

Once we parted ways, I remembered that BJ was with me before I left. I paused and looked around, making sure no one was around.

"Beetlejuice?" I said into the air. Nothing happened until a deep, raspy voice was heard from behind me.

"Hi." I turned around and smiled, but it fell once I saw the look on his face.

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing, how was your date?" He sounded irritated, but I didn't question him.

"It was great, we went to this cute little cafe a couple blocks down the street. The spaghetti was amaz-"

"That's good. Glad you had fun. It's almost time for you to go to class, better hurry up." He cut me off and spoke quickly. I looked at the time and saw I only had 20 minutes.

"Shit!" I ran to the dorms to get my books, then ran back out. I checked the time, 5 minutes. I ran to the arts building, and jogged down the hallway, trying to get to my class.

"That was an adventure." BJ mumbled, floating next to me.

"Tell me about it." I took a deep breath and walked into my performing arts class, just on time.

"Good afternoon, (Y/N), are you ready to start rehearsals?" My teacher, Clara, smiled at me, handing me a folder.

"Ready as ever." I sat at my table, my friend Lydia was already asleep next to me.

"Is she never not sleeping?" BJ laughed, and I shook my head, smirking. I saw BJ staring at me from the corner of my eye, but I did my best to ignore him, blushing slightly.

Lydia woke up with a start when Clara announced we were starting rehearsals.

"Fuck, how much did I miss?" She looked at me, yawning.

"We're just about to go over act 1, scene 1." I explained.

"Oh, okay. Night." She put her head back down and fell back asleep.

I looked up at BJ and we laughed, then we started rehearsing.
