y/n decided to miss out her break to practice the piece she was playing with her accompanist, no pianist, hyouta. nationals were approaching quickly, with only one month left.

it was a miracle she could learn the Caprice Basque in a month, since it was a technically challenging piece with many harmonics, quick bow changes, left-hand pizzacato and more. but she was a very hard-working girl. her family knew better than anyone that she was working very hard for nationals, and only supported her in her career.

at this point, the piece was half-way done. with hyouta's and y/n's incredible talent, they are arriving to play together slowly. they could play it technically, almost everything together, but it was robotic.

Caprice Basque by Sarasate is a piece that needs extreme precision and power, perfect for competition. it was rather challenging technically, but the hardest thing of this piece was to project the right type of sound to the audience. it is a playful piece, full of colors and emotions. this piece was exactly like y/n, strong and powerful, yet playful.

and so she decided to miss her break on a boring monday to go practice this piece. she took her violin and partitions with her to the music room. as she was walking, she was humming the music and was playing it with her fingers on empty space.

upon arriving in the classroom, she opened the windows and let fresh air in. she knew the volleyball team had practice now so she smiled. she took out her violin, tuned it, and positioned her partitions on the black metallic stand. she took a deep breath in before choosing what she wanted to play. she decided she'd work on the chords part, since she maybe, just maybe underestimated it slightly.

she took her bow and positioned her fingers, getting ready to play the rather difficult part. she played it slowly, accelerating every time she restarts. but always at the same point, she messes up and can't get the strong sounds she desires.

she just decided to go with the flow, and restart the whole piece.

she started playing the piece, very fiercely. she played it how it was supposed to be played. of course, the supposed didn't mean anything, since there is not a single correct interpretation. everyone has their own interpretation.

"hold on tight, girl." the girl thought to herself as she breathed in.

she played and played.

obviously, with the strong sound she produced, people came to watch her.

the volleyball team came to watch her from the windows as they were training.

they stopped in their tracks, and admired.

osamu and suna were the first ones to have stars in their eyes as they watched her play.

she was so engrossed in her music, she didn't realize people from the door and windows were watching her.

then she started to accelerate the tempo, making it quicker and quicker, and at the same time more and more playful. like someone was trying to catch her, but she was just tricking them and running more and more away. that was how suna and osamu both felt, like she was always close but out of their reach.

then the part with the left-hand pizz came, everything calmed down.

and then, the chords. y/n furrowed her eyebrows as she played it, fiercely. somehow, that time she managed to do it right, as strong as she wanted to.

then one of the hardest parts arrives, the harmonics. (the harmonics are very hard because you don't press on the string and just put your finger slightly on it. if it is even slightly off, it will create a REALLY bad sound) her fingers were very light, almost like feathers on the strings. they produced such a sweet and angelic sound. she shifted positions quickly and smoothly. she also managed this part, making it very fairy-like and made it seem as easy as a piece of cake, though it wasn't at all.

at this point, everyone was already amazed.

the next and final part was basically just running fingers. it was almost a race, and the part in the highest position sounded like birds chirping. she seemed very confident, with her eyes closed as she played the piece by memory.

you could say, she owned that piece.

so when she finished, everyone was speechless. she sighed and pouted, as she opened her eyes and got closer to the partitions. she still didn't realized that people were looking at her. she groaned and started writing on the paper as everyone watched her, eyes wide.

clap. clap. clap.

her half-open, lazy eyes turned to the window, and widened as she saw the amount of people clapping. her jaw dropped.

"her fingers are like spiders!!"

"oh my god she looked so cool there!"

"is she famous?!!"

"go y/n-chan!!!!"

y/n's neck hair stood straight as she gulped down her saliva. she awkwardly smiled and waved, muttering a "hi." to all the people.

everyone continued clapping.

her eyes then went to the window, where she met a pair of green eyes and dark eyes.

she ran to them, in order to somehow hide from the surroundings.

she hugged them both, as she smiled and whispered "help me." sweetly into their ear. she could hear gasps from the crowd blocking the door.

they both smiled.

and the bell rang, time to go die out of boredom in a lesson.

apart from the volleyball team, y/n didn't have any close friends, though she did know many people and talked to some quite a lot. she even had "fans" or whatever. she got quite popular in the past weeks.

however, the closest person so far to her was no-one else but the high school heart-breaker,

miya atsumu.
