"Y/n, I heard you gained a reputation in Japan amongst schools for being an impressive violinist. 'S that true?" The raven-haired boy asked, sipping on some grape juice as he laid on the couch next to the girl, gaming the hell out of New Horizons.

"Wouldn't say I'm all that impressive, I'm not a prodigy or whatever you call it. I just play like I want, my own way. I feel the music, and try to express my emotions through it. That's all." The female said, shrugging her shoulders lazily.

"I never asked you how Nationals went last year, though I did watch you on TV, and well that was quite the catch, I was speechless. You were really pretty on that stage." He chuckled lowly, staring at the white ceiling.

"They went pretty damn well, and this year I plan on playing the way the judges want, but still making it my own. Just you see, Sarasate is with me! His Caprice Basque will eventually become my piece." She answered, looking at the male as she smiled fiercely, fire burning in the eyes.

"Oh wait, hold on- Holy cow! I just remembered Nationals are one week away on Thursday!" (ok so on that point, I only just realised Nationals are usually in January, pardon my stupidity...imagine it's one week in February please, pardon my mistake..) Her eyes widened, mouth dropping in an o-shape as her hands nervously ran through her hair, messing it up.

"Then what the fuck are you doing?! Go practice your ass off! Do you always lose track of time like that or what?! What are you doing getting drunk one week before Nationals you dumbass!" The crow-black haired boy exclaimed like as if he was her dad, dragging the girl off the couch into her room as he flicked the girl's forehead, hurting her in the way.

"Ow ow oow! That hurts like hell! I got it all under control, I know my piece by heart and can play it to the tempo. I just need to really pinpoint how I want to perform it and make it mine, yet still pass fine by the judges...I'll practice today. And you, Tetsu', do you remember how when I practiced you always helped me make it prettier? Do it again!" The girl continued, rubbing harshly her forehead as she smiled dumbly, just like the kid she is.

The two finally arrived in the room, the boy pushing her to her violin, which she immediately took out. She tightened the bow's hair, and cleaned the strings just in case with a black silk cloth. The boy sat on a chair, also putting a shirt on the way and the girl too. His elbows rested on the soft vanilla-white arm-rests of the chair, looking exactly like a judge. Like always, Y/n took a deep breath in as she closed her eyes and brought her violin up to her chin.

The girl started playing the Caprice powerfully. However, they boy often stopped her and told her how to make it even juicier and better. Yes, he had 0 musical knowledge, but he could see when something was off, when she was tensed, when she should go slower, quicker, go softer, harder, etc. He had rather a strong musical ear ; after all the girl did make him listen to classical music during his entire life. It took her an entire 40 minutes before she could play the piece like Kuroo wanted it to ; and honestly, it was even better now. She was completely relaxed all the time, her fingers were always sure of where to go, and she felt even more powerful than before.

"Y/n, what's the price for winning the competition this year?" The raven-haired boy asked the girl which was now dead on the floor like jelly.

"You won't believe it!! The winner gets to perform in the Suntory Hall in Tokyo! He or she gets that such huge chance since this is the biggest classical music international competition in Japan of the year for high schoolers. This piece I chose, The Caprice Basque op.24 by Sarasate, may not be the hardest technically or whatever, but it still needs a strong player to perform entirely. And I surely plan on doing that ; technique is not the only important thing in playing, emotions are just as important. Of course, the other participants of the competition also have to play a piece by Sarasate, having the choice between Introduction and Tarantella, Peteneras if I'm correct, not Zigeunerweisen sadly, some others and this one. I received the sheets of the participants, and I found it really sad nobody else was playing this one. So I plan on proving to every single judge and person there why that piece is the one I chose! However, if I win ; I'll have to play the Caprice and another piece or two others that I am learning, which I won't say." She finally breathe out, having said most of the speech in one go.
