The newly engaged couple quickly joined their family halfway at the edge of the bridge. Olivia and Trevor were passed between family members as they celebrated their engagement. It was a big thing for both families because the eldest kids were getting married and officially on their own. They were adults, and it was clear now.
"That ring is stunning." Sophia smiled, as she finally got a peek of the ring her brother has been hiding from the whole family for less than a week.
"Thanks, Sophia... did you help pick it out?" Olivia asked quietly.
"No. Trevor did that all by himself... at least I think so. I wanted to see it when he told us about wanting to propose, but he said we couldn't see it until you did." Sophia sighed. Olivia smiled as she pulled her fiance's sister close and gave her a tight squeeze.
"Well, then this makes it even more special." Olivia grinned.
She didn't know how badly she had wanted to be engaged to Trevor, but as soon he got down on one knee she knew that she had to be engaged to him. She had to marry him because he was and will always be the love of her life.
"Okay, you two have to get going." Becky laughed, as she brushed tears from her cheeks.
"Why?" Olivia asked.
"We have dinner plans... we don't want to miss out on that steak you couldn't stop talking about last night on the phone." Trevor teased as he elbowed his fiancee.
"God do I love you," Olivia whispered, before stepping closer to Trevor and kissing him deeply.
"And I love you so much, Liv... no matter where we end up."

After dinner, Trevor and Olivia sat outside of Olivia's house in silence. They wanted to start spending the rest of their lives together, but they were both very exhausted and just wanted to sleep.
"I wish we could have gotten married tonight." Olivia yawned, as she rolled her head to the side and looked at her fiance.
"Really?" Trevor asked, and Olivia nodded.
"Really. I want to just be your wife... I don't even know how long our engagement will be especially since I'm going to medical school." Olivia sighed.
"I'm assuming we should keep it long because of that reason..." Trevor trailed off.
"Everything is going to be put off." Olivia frowned.
"Liv-"
"I'm only a sophomore, babe. I have two more years of college, then four years of medical school. I'll be twenty-six by then. You'll be twenty-seven... it's like half of our lives will be gone-"
"Do you still want to be a doctor?" Trevor asked.
"Yeah... of course I do. But... but I don't want to wait till I'm out of med school before getting married. Before starting a family." Olivia breathed.
"Then let's start planning." Trevor smiled. He leaned in close and kissed his fiancee gently, before getting out of his Jeep and walking around to open Olivia's door. He helped her out before walking her up to the front door.
"Are you really sure you are fine planning a wedding? It doesn't have to be-"
"We don't need to get married before the year is up... but let's plan for either next fall or the spring after that."
"So your senior year... that works." Olivia smiled. She wrapped her arms around Trevor's neck before kissing him deeply.
"Goodnight, love." Trevor smiled.
"Goodnight."

Christmas came and went quietly. This year, the Langans and Bensons celebrated together for the first time but for sure not the last time. Olivia had her year checkup on her heart, and she got all the first of many all clears.
New Year's Eve came around, and Trevor had yet another thing up his sleeve to spoil his fiancee.
"You hate planes." Olivia laughed, as she and her fiance stood in line to board a plane. Trevor kept telling Olivia that he just wanted to take her away for a while, but he'd have her back well before they had to head back to UCLA.
"I do... but I wanted to celebrate your new heart's first birthday." Trevor smiled. Olivia smacked his chest as they moved up in line.
"So, I'm not dumb... and this is super sweet and all... but we are going to North Carolina..." Olivia spoke, as she pointed at the screen.
"I really should have blindfolded you, but I thought people might think I was attempting to kidnap you or something." Trevor laughed.
"Why are we going there, Trev? Alex... I really don't think she wants much to do with me. It really sucks, but she's living her life and I'm living mine."
"You've been really down in regards to not seeing your best friend for months... so I thought that we could go down there and see her. Tell her about our engagement. See what she's been up too. So, give me your hand because I'm going to start crying probably as soon as the plane takes off and as we board it..."
///
They got on a plane by noon and ended up in North Carolina and in a taxi by a little after three. Trevor gave the taxi driver Alex's address and then it was just a waiting game.
"Maybe we shouldn't have done this, Trev. She might think that we are trying to force her to come back to UCLA... or maybe her parents won't even let us in." Olivia sighed nervously.
"Don't worry, Liv. It'll be just fine." Trevor grinned. Once they pulled up, Trevor got out and grabbed their bags before grabbing Olivia's hand and moving up the path. But they were stopped when Olivia's name was called.
"Alex." Olivia breathed, as she saw Alex standing on the deck.
"What are you doing here? I-i haven't responded to you in forever." Alex breathed.
"Trevor planned this... not only do I miss you like crazy but I also wanted to tell you that I'm engaged... we are in engaged." Olivia breathed tearfully.
