December 25th:
Trevor used a reclining chair in Olivia's hospital room to makeshift a bed for himself, so he could stay by her side. He hadn't left since she'd been admitted but tonight he needed to get some real sleep, and he'd already vowed to himself that he wouldn't leave her side if he wasn't forced to.
"Are you sure you'll be okay here by yourself?" Becky asked Trevor as he emerged from the bathroom shower.
"Yes, I'll be fine. She doesn't deserve to be alone on Christmas. I know that Serena and Christian plan on switching out through the night so Lilah can sleep in her own room, but I need to be here with her."
"Okay, " Becky sighed, not wanting to fight with her headstrong son, "I'll come by in the morning with breakfast. If she wakes up, text me, and I'll bring some for her too, okay?"
"Sounds good, Mom, " Trevor smiled, tugging his mom into a tight hug.
"Good night, sweet boy."
"Good night, " Trevor spoke, kissing his mom's cheek before getting cozied up on the hospital chair.
Becky had gone home earlier in the day to grab a few things for Trevor's stay so he could be comfortable and entertained. She grabbed a pillow and blanket from his bed, a set of comfy clothes, his phone charger, and his sketch pad of house ideas.
Trevor grabbed the sketchbook and pencils and opened up to a picture of his first draft of his back porch. He looked carefully at the design and quickly found its flaws before flipping to a clean page. He quickly drew out the back of the house before starting on the deck. He watched as his new draft became more spacious than his first one, how it came better equipped to seat more people, how the porch swing got bigger, and how he made sure there was an area for kids to relax on the porch as well.
Serena had arrived and found Trevor zoned deeply into the book in his lap. She carefully moved into the room not wanting to break his trance or startle him, but it didn't last long as Trevor caught a glimpse of her figure passing in front of him.
"Hey, " Trevor spoke softly, "you don't have to sneak, I'm not doing anything important."
"You seemed pretty zoned out for it not being important, " Serena smiled, sitting on the edge of Olivia's bed to caress her cheek.
"I'm just sketching. Something I do often, it helps clear my mind and collect my thoughts."
"What are you sketching?" Serena asked, curiosity getting the best of her.
"Plans of my dream home, " Trevor smirked, "changing it more to fit the life I see happening with your daughter somewhere down the line."
"Plans have changed since you met, Olivia?"
"A ton, " Trevor chuckled, "the first draft I ever have of this home is a ten-year-olds dream gaming home, the second is a high schooler's frat house dream, and as I age into this third stage in life it's changing a ton."
"What's one thing you've changed about it since meeting my daughter?" Serena questioned, stroking Olivia's cheek with her thumb.
"The closet is a lot bigger."
Serena let out a hearty laugh and shook her head, "she sure does have a ton of clothes, but make sure your kitchen is big too because she loves to bake."
"She does?" Trevor asked, surprised about his girlfriend's hidden love.
"She does, and wait until you try her brownies, my heavens they are the absolute best treat."
"I love brownies, " Trevor sighed, setting his sketchbook down to look at Olivia.
It was silent between Serena and Trevor, the faint beeping of Olivia's monitors filling the room. Both of them just watched her for a long moment, both saying silent prayers for her to come around, both of them only wanting one thing, for her to be okay. Serena eventually looked at Trevor and found tears streaming down his cheeks.
