Trevor frowned, feeling bad that Olivia was having to experience all of this on what was supposed to be a relaxing and loving vacation. He had totally forgotten to mention this stuff to his grandparents, and now he was worried his Gram or Gramps would have second thoughts about his choices for a girlfriend.

"Babe, I'm sorry, I should've remembered to say something to them, to warn them. I--I'm sorry, love."

"Trev--" Olivia's already fragile voice cracked, "are you ashamed of my health issues?"

Trevor's blue-green eyes went wide in shock, "Olivia Margaret Benson, " he spoke lovingly, pulling her into his arms, "I most definitely am not ashamed of what you've been through. I am also not at all ashamed of you at all, and I don't want those thoughts to ever swirl in that pretty head of yours, okay?"

Olivia nodded, taking in a sharp breath before starting to cry. She felt overwhelmed by everything at the moment and crying seemed to be the only way to get out of her rut. Trevor bent and picked Olivia up before moving to sit on the bed. He laid back and let his girlfriend cry into the crook of his neck as she laid on his chest.

Time had passed since Trevor had returned from town and disappeared upstairs to find Olivia. Becky was worried about some of the things said this morning, Olivia had been quiet when they went into town and when they returned to the house she retreated upstairs. Becky slowly climbed the stairs and opened Olivia and Trevor's bedroom door.

"Hey, " Trevor whispered, lifting his head to look over Olivia's body.

"Is she asleep?" Becky asked, motioning to the silent brunette laying on her son's chest.

Trevor nodded, "she is, what happened after I left this morning?"

Becky sighed, "what I got from Gram was that Olivia came down with her bag of meds, she was getting ready to take them on her usual schedule. Gram thought they were Gramps, but Olivia corrected her. Gram asked Olivia if she was an addict and obviously she isn't...Gram found out that they were for Olivia's transplant and then came outside and argued with me on why I didn't tell her."

"It's none of her business, " Trevor grumbled softly.

"I know that, but it was bound to come up at some point. Anyway, is she okay?" Becky asked, moving to cover Olivia and her son with a blanket.

"She thinks Gram hates her, she asked me why I didn't tell them about her heart, and then she asked if I was ashamed of her medical condition, " Trevor sighed, "she's had a day and some tears have been shed but I think after a nap she'll feel a little better."

Becky nodded, "sounds good. By the way, Trevor, be sure you always wear a condom, birth control doesn't work all the time, " she spoke, leaving the room not turning to see her son's reddened face.

After the whole misconception and upset everything seemed to return back to normal for the following day and before they knew it July fourth had arrived. Trevor stirred early in the morning when his nearly silent alarm sounded. He quickly got up and pulled on some fleece short and hoodie before waking Olivia from her slumber.

"Babe, wake up, " Trevor spoke, rubbing her shoulder.

"Hmm, what's going on?"

"Get up, put on something warm, and follow me, " Trevor smiled brightly.

"Trevor, it's five in the morning, " Olivia groaned, pulling on sweats.

"I haven't missed a fourth of July sunrise in fourteen years and I'm not starting now, come on, " he smiled, pulling his girlfriend downstairs and quietly out the sliding glass doors.

"You're a bigger dork than me, " she smiled, following him down the stairs.

Trevor quickly laid out a blanket, letting Olivia sit between his legs. They sat patiently watching the orange-golden ball of light begin to appear over the ocean. Trevor's arms were wrapped around Olivia, his chin resting on her head, as he shared his first, of many, favorite fourth of July traditions.

"How did this become a tradition?" Olivia asked, snuggling into Trevor's arms.

"When I was five it was my first summer staying here the whole summer. I'd been having trouble sleeping away from my parents so Gramps told me if I went to bed and stayed there he'd wake me up to watch the sunrise, every year after he'd wake me up and we'd do it just like this."

"You're already out here, squirt, " Atticus' voice sounded from behind them.

"Sure am, Gramps, " Trevor chuckled, watching Olivia smile.

The morning was loaded with traditions like star-shaped pancakes with raspberry syrup and a very patriotic fruit salad, the hanging of flags and streamers on the back porch, and a multitude of cooking happening in the kitchen. Olivia had slipped away from all the chaos for a minute alone to recharge.

"Are you good?" Sophia asked as she and Brantley exited the front door.

"Yeah, just getting a little air. Where are the two of you off to?"

"We're going to drop flags off at Miss Julie's, " Brantley smirked, "she's Grams, best friend's granddaughter."

"And Brantley's crush, " Sophia teased, moving past Olivia on the steps.

"Is not, " Brantley whined.

"Is too, " Sophia giggled, running down the sidewalk to a house far down the road.

Olivia smiled, watching Trevor's siblings chase after each other, "I thought I might find you out here, " Trevor's low voice shook her from a daydream.

"Hey, " Olivia smiled, tightening the white bows at the ends of her braids.

"Whatcha doing?"

"Getting a little air, recharging my introverted self. What are you doing?"

"I was coming to find you, but now I've found you so..." Trevor trailed off leaning in and stealing a kiss from Olivia's glossy red lips, "Mom wants us to go grab everyone Del's Lemonade, I figured we could take the kids."

"Sounds like a plan to me, " Olivia smiled, letting Trevor pull her up from the stairs.

The sun had set on Martha's Vineyard and now it was time for fireworks. Trevor was curled back up on the blanket with Olivia in-between his legs.

"Where do the fireworks go off?" Olivia questioned, turning to find Trevor in the pale light of his glow stick necklace.

"Right up over the ocean, " he smiled pointing in the dark, "the local fire departments around the island take donations throughout the year and then they light them all off tonight. The show is usually a two-hour affair."

"Can't promise I won't fall asleep, " Olivia yawned giggling.

"I can, " Trevor spoke tickling his girlfriend's sides, causing squeals and sweet giggles to escape her parted lips.

"Trevor, " she squeaked out between squirming and laughing.

"Tell me you love me, " he smiled brightly down at her.

"I--love you, " she giggled as his hands stopped.

"Aww, I love you too, " he laughed, pulling her tight and placing a kiss to her head as the first firework went off starting the show.
