Nadia snapped at the truck driver, "What do you mean you don't recognize me?! I'm your cousin Maria from Mexico! Miguel, Aunt Callida will be furious if she finds out you didn't help your cousin in need!"

"Señorita, I tell you I don't know you," he said, his patience much less than at the begining of the argument.

"Have I changed that much?" she asked.

"You don't get it? I don't know you,"

"Miguel!" Nadia begged, "I need your help!" Behind her back, she motioned for us to get in the back of the truck. We obeyed and climbed in. It was full of sand.

"Great," Grace mumbled, "now the kitty has a litter box,"

"That's disgusting," Adam sneered.

"You know what's disgusting-er? Your face," Grace snapped.

"That's not even a word,"

"Shut up both of you," Angelle snapped.

"Yes ma'am," they both said. I bit back my laughter at their expressions. The leopard, Nadia had started calling him Tommy, jumped in and landed beside Adam.

The argument had died down and Nadia was on her knees, "Miguel," she pleaded, "can I at least ride in the back?"

"No," 'Miguel' stated, and began driving away.

"That hurts Miguel! I'm telling Aunt Matilde!" Nadia called after him. When he looked away, Nadia took off running after us. She managed to jump up, but her foot slipped and she was left hanging on for her life. Grace and I rushed through the sand to help her. Angelle and Adam were already there, but with the sand and movement they weren't helping much. Nadia struggled to grab a decent anchor, but the sand kept slipping through  her fingers and making her slide.

When we finally got there to help, Nadia's upper half was already in the truck. Grabbing her by the belt, we pulled the rest of her in. With a thump we landed on the sand. Nadia chuckled slightly, "That was fun. I fealt like the dog Delgado in the Chihuawa movie,"

Grace hit her behind the head, "Don't ever do that again,"

"Yeah," I agreed, "Hebe is all for YOLO and whatnot, but that was insane even by her standards," I recieved a lopsided smile from Nadia and had to fight to keep a straight face.

I leaned back on Tommy as we travelled back to camp. Adam came over and sat in front of me, "So..." he smiled, "Is your cut better?"

I looked at the long cut on my arm from my weight on the metal of the truck, "It's healing,"

"Good," he nodded.

I laughed a little and smiled, "If you want to ask me something just ask me already,"

"Do you..." he furrowed his brow, "Do you like Nico di Angelo?"

"If I answer 'no' I would be lying, but if I answer 'yes' it wouldn't be the whole truth," I said flatly, "Figure it out, you're a son of Aphrodite,"

"Ok. You do like him, so you can't deny it, but it's not exactly a crush, so saying you like him wouldn't be a complete truth," he guessed.

"Go on," I insisted.

"Well," he scratched his head, "You think he might be 'the one' so he doesn't fall under a simple crush... You- you love him," he looked at me straight in the eye, "You love him,"

The image of the ghostly girl haunted me still. I couldn't take her out of my mind. Could it be that she was indeed my mother?
I await you.

She hadn't said anything else. No explenation. Just three words. I knew I was adopted. My parents never hid that from me. They didn't love me any less. My mom had told me about my mother. How she died at childbirth and my father never showed up so they took me to be their daughter. I just never expected my mother to show up.
