Chapter 9

I walked out of my last lesson and noticed Jake was waiting for me while checking his phone.

My lesson was a single room outside by all the animals (yes the school had animals) and it a bit higher so there was a staircase by the door.

As I was slowly walking down it Jake looked up, I felt like in one of those romantic movies where I was going down the stairs in a beautiful gown and the boy was waiting and he would say 'wow!' because of how beautiful I was.

Only that me and Jake didn't have that kind of relationship we were just friends and I would never look beautiful.

When I was down the stairs I realised Jake thought the same thing as he was walking towards me and put out his hand that was waiting to gently grab mine and kiss it.

"My lady, you look beautiful!" He spoke in a posh accent.

"Why thank you, my prince!" I twirled around.

We stared at each other for seconds and then we burst out into laughter.

"I wouldn't exactly say beautiful though!" I said after 2 minutes of laughter.

"Maddi, you need to stop being so harsh to yourself and finally accept that you're beautiful!"

"Well I can't exactly accept it when I've been bullied and I've forced to hate myself because of all the comments that were said!" I put my hand over my mouth realising what I've just said.

"Maddi it's ok!" He looked at me in a way he's never looked at me, he looked at me as if he loved me as if I was that special girl. His eyes were sparking at me for the first time but once again showing so much as if his eyes were taking to me. He removed my hand away from my mouth.

"If you need anyone to talk about it I'm always here, I mean that's what best friends are for and I'll never leave you however bad your story is!" He never took his eyes away from me.

"Jake Doyle you wouldn't leave me even if you wanted to, you love me to much!"

He gently chuckled.

It turned out that me and Jake were actually neighbours. We lived opposite each other which is funny because I never noticed. As we were walking I started questioning him.

"Hey how come you know all my lessons, I mean you wait for me every lesson so you must know them."

"Oh when we were in form and you went to speak to sir I took your spare timetable out of your bag and took a picture of it so I know where you are every lesson." He smiled.

"You stalker!" I gently pushed him away.

"What do you not want me to wait for you after every lesson?" He asked his voice going sad.

"No no don't get me wrong I love the fact you're waiting for me I was just wondering how you knew." I reassured him.

Then we walked the rest of the way blabbing about some stuff in school when we finally reached my house.

He pointed to the house opposite mine and said.
"So this is me!"

"Are you serious? This is my house!" I pointed to the house opposite his which was mine.

He raised his brows and mouthed
'Wow!'
And he didn't say that because my house was beautiful, it was because how we've been neighbours for such a long time but never knew.

He walked up towards me holding his skateboard which I didn't find a reason bringing to school as he was only 2 mins away from it. He looked at me the way he did before, that 'I love you' look.

"Maddilyn Parker, you're the best thing that happened to me!" He gently whispered in my ear.
"I don't care what happened in your past life or what will happen in your future life but in your present life you're my best friend and these past few weeks have been an unforgettable experience and I wanted to say that I love you as my best friend! I love you Maddilyn Parker." He said only this time he didn't whisper it to my ear he said it into my eyes while giving me that look.

Then he pulled me into a hug and I squeezed him tight.
"I love you too Jake Doyle." I smiled.
As I was hugging I smelled in that Jake smell. He smelled like boys deodorant and might think that it smelled so hard that I would cough but no it was a normal light beautiful smell that could cheer me up from any mood that was in. I could recognise this smell anywhere, this beautiful smell of my best friend Jake Doyle.
