"Veruca?" Charlie asked. "Yes, Charlie?" she replied as he took hold of both of her hands. "Well, um--" he began to say and breathed a sigh as he built up enough courage. "I like you, and I don't mean as a friend, I mean as in I really like you and I'd like to be with you." What I'm trying to say is that, Veruca Salt, I love you." he finished. "Charlie, that is the sweetest thing that anyone has ever said to me. I think that I love you too." "So um, are we, you know, official?" Charlie asked innocently. Veruca giggled . "Why don't you find out?" she teased and they leaned closer to one another and were about to kiss, but a voice interrupted them. "Veruca! It's time to go home!" it was her father. Veruca looked angry that her and Charlie were disturbed. But Charlie said to her: "It's okay, Veruca. We'll see each other again tomorrow." This made Veruca smile and she kissed him lightly on the lips. "Well then, see you tomorrow then Charlie. I love you." she stated as she went away with her father. "I love you too!" Charlie called out to her. As soon as she and her father was gone, Charlie was beaming and his grandpa came over to him. "Come on, Charlie. Your mother will be wondering where we are." Charlie nodded and they wrnt home, much like Veruca and her father did after saying goodbye to Mr Wonka for the night and his father Wilbur. On the way home, Grandpa Joe and him were talking about his relationship with Veruca. "So Veruca is your girlfriend now, Charlie?" Charlie nodded. "In a way I would say that she is, although we have not properly kissed yet. But i guess that it will come tomorrow when we see each other again." Grandpa Joe put an arm around his grandson. "I'm happy for you. I'm glad to hear that you have finally found the love of your life. It reminds me of when me and your grandma Josephine met. We knew that we were made for each other."

                                                                                   (Flashback)

Young Grandpa Joe was a poor boy, he only had a few friends. They were 2 boys called Freddie, a nice boy but can be a bit of a quick to anger and often loses some of his temper, and Tim, an intelligent boy who claims to know everything, and a girl named Harriet. Harriet developed a crush on Joe, but she did not know how to express her feelings towards him but she was friendly and understanding but shy and often stuttered with almost every word she spoke but Joe liked her just the same. They all went to the same school. It was also where Josephine was studying. One day, Joe and his friends were on the way to their Maths class when they bumped into a girl with brown hair. "Hey! Watch where you are going!" said Freddie. "Freddie. Don't be so rude." Joe answered as Freddie scoffed. "Sorry about my friend Freddie, he can be nice but he's quick to anger." the girl with brown hair looked at Joe in surprise. But nodded. "Oh, it's quite alright, i get that a lot from the others. So what is your name then?" she asked trying to be polite. "Oh sorry, where are my manners right?" Joe joked with a chuckle and the girl giggled. "I'm Joe." he held his hand out for a handshake. The girl smiled. "Pleased to meet you Joe. My name is Josephine." Josephine took a liking to Joe. "So who are your friend's here?" "Well you already know Freddie. That's Tim and Harriet." he said as he pointed to Tim and Harriet. She smiled at them. "Pleasure to meet you." Tim said with a smile and they shook hands as did Harriet. "N-nice to m-meet y-y-you J-Josephine." Harriet hesitated. "Hey. You want to er, you know, have lunch with us later?" Joe offered. Harriet looked a little jealous, but she thought that he was only being friendly so she decided to let it slide. "I'd like that. See you around Joe, Freddie, Tim and Harriet." she said as she walked off after they said goodbye to her.

                                                                              (End of Flashback)

"So you see Charlie, that is how your grandma Josephine and I first met." Joe smiled. "I like that story grandpa." Charlie replied as they entered their home. "Evening." Charlie said. He was greeted by his mother. "Hey Charlie, hi Joe. How was the tour?" she asked. "It was really exciting and I'll tell you all about it." "First of all though, get that mud off your pants." Grandpa George  called out. A while later, they were all sitting around the table, explaining what happened in the tour and what happened between Charlie and Veruca. "So let me get this straight, that Veruca girl is now your girlfriend?" Grandpa George asked as Charlie nodded. "She explained to me that she never had any friends before me thanks to her spoiled way of behaving. But I started to develop feelings for her as I saw that she was miserable inside." his family all nodded. "You don't suppose that we could meet her some time soon, do you?" his father asked. "I don't see why not, that is if anyone wants to?" they all nodded. "Great. I'll ask her father if she is allowed to come over tomorrow." "Anyway, it's bedtime now. Off you go to bed now Charlie." "Very well, goodnight." Charlie said. "Night Charlie." they all replied as Charlie went upstairs and turned off the light as he lay in bed and went straight to sleep.
