The ringing tone through my skull like a blunt, rusty saw. Reaching across the bed, I gasped for the phone.

"Hello?" I slurred.

📲: "I thought you were going to call me back!" roared Roxanne.

I instantly pulled the phone back as her voice still echoed in my head. I cautiously brought the phone back to my ear praying that the screaming was over.

"Hey fatty, what's going on? What time is it?"

📲: "You said you'd call back, what happened?"

"It's a long story," I grimaced once I was aware of the pungent morning breath.

📲: "Well I'm waiting," and she exactly did that.

"I went to play ball."

📲: "And?"

"Drew was there."

📲: "NO WAY," she gasped and instantly  forgot about my treachery.

"Don't shout, damn it!" I moaned. "My head's killing me!"

📲: " Okay, sorry, sorry. So, what happened? Is everything okay?"

"Nothing happened, we played and he got hurt and left," I was on no mood to go into details.

📲: "Did you hurt him?"

I paused for a moment.

"No."

📲: " Chad, did you?" she questioned sternly.

"No Roxanne, I did nothing."

📲: "Why didn't you call me after the game then?

"Raul and I went for a drink to sliver"

📲: "Great, how's he doing?"

I sat up and swallowed hoping to moisten my parched throat. Reaching for the water bottle on the floor I noticed that I managed to survive the night without using trash can Raul thoughtfully left beside my bed.

"He's alright, I guess," I almost whispered.

📲: "What's wrong, darling?"

"Nothing, just feel tired," I lied

📲: "You knoe what? You need to make an effort, you need to go out and do things. It's important to stay busy."

"I know and believe me I have tried, but I always want to come back home. I just want to be left alone. When I'm out I itch to get back."

📲: "What happened to you, Chad? You were so much better when you left Philippines and all of a sudden you're like this," her voice now filled with concern.

"It happens at times, I regress. It's the loneliness I guess."

📲: "But how? How did this happen all of a sudden?"

The pain in my chest intensified and I remained quiet as I tried to maintain my composure.

📲: "Hello? Chad? You there?"

"Yes"

📲: "Well?" she persisted

"It was seeing Drew."
