Lacey's POV

The cops (for the first time in my life) were ever so willing to help out. They took Riley with urgency and helped him deal with his wounds whilst two others helped me with my own. Their hospitality was beyond what I'd expected, from offering us warm drinks to giving us blankets to keep us warm. It felt flattering, but clearly, they just wanted to warm up to the beast.

"Can you tell us what happened, miss?" the chief, an overgrown man with blond dyed hair asked. It was clear that they wanted to help, but I was in no state to answer any questions. With the adrenaline dying down, by body was finally able to come to terms with its' current state. I felt worse than I looked, and according to the nurse who was called in to check on us, I was in no condition to walk. He supplied me with crutches, and bandaged up my leg before administering pain meds accordingly.

I looked over at Riley who sad quietly at the corner of the chief's office, fatigue clearly pained over his features. "Can we do this later?" I asked, dropping my head into my hands and letting out a sigh of extortion. With my head down, I looked up at him with though my lashes and saw him frozen on the spot with eyes dancing all around the room. I want rude, was I? I thought, trying to figure out what could make the man before me as pale as a ghost, before a warm hand rested itself upon my shoulder.

I wanted to wince at the pain of the sudden contact, but the relief was overwhelming. "Erebus!" I exclaimed, lifting his hand from my shoulder and guiding it Infront of me for him to follow.

He got down on his knees before me as I held onto his hand like there's no tomorrow. His other hand sprung forward to caress my cheeks, slowing down at each cut and bruise. On instinct, I leaned against his touch and nuzzled my face into his palm. We were quiet for a few moments, as I watched his eyes scanning over my injuries.

"What happened to you, my Lace?" he asked in a voice so soft and vulnerable that it took me a moment to realise that it was his. My eyes welled up with tears on its own accord and I pulled him close to me. So close that we were one.

"Lacey," he whispered out, nuzzling his face against my neck "I'm so sorry."

Pulling away, I shook my head, "No no, you saved me." I wasn't lying. If not for him I'd still be drowning in that tub of ice. If not for him I wouldn't have had the strength to go out and save my Riley.

"Riley." I whispered out in a hurry, cutting off the beast from whatever he was about to say. I felt ashamed for forgetting that he was in the room.

Erebus looked at me before a look of understanding flushed though his face. He got up from his knees with his hands still in mine and looked over to Riley who sat up straight with curiosity visible in his eyes. Both men looked at each other challengingly before Erebus extended his hand that wasn't in my hold and extended it over to Riley.

"Erebus." He introduced himself, and my best friend followed after. I twinkle of pain flashed though Riley's eyes when Erebus shook it. His injuries must really hurt, I thought. I watched Riley's eyes move from Erebus's hand in mine, and how his features seem to tense. Erebus must not have noticed, as he band caressing my hand with his thumb before escorting us out.
