Chapter Seventeen
"No.....I just wondered what was up. I mean, I still want to be friends with you, yknow...all that..." I stammered. I knew I didn't sound the least bit convincing.
"Mhm...no, actually, you missed me--and you like me--but you just won't admitt it." Nick said confidently while staring into my eyes. They were mesmerizing me. I felt like I couldn't breathe.
"Not true." I said, a little too quicly.
"Hey," he said," I'd like to see you prove that. And, by the way, I'm not giving up so easily like you think I am. I mean, so what if you're denying it right now? That's okay. I know you like me. I can see it in your eyes, and in your actions." He smiled. "For now that's good enough for me and I'm fine waiting a while for you to admit it." Nick said.
I gave him a doubtful look and glared at him, but I knew that he knew the truth. That's why he only smiled back at me.
Because he knew he was right.
.......................
Later after school on the day after I had met Nick in the park, I was walking along the sidewalk towards the local coffee shop to get something to wake me up. On my way I passed some guys from my school and I ignored them as they whistled at me. I went into the coffee shop but I didn't realize the guys from outside had followed me inside. I bought my coffee and settled into the nearest booth. Then the two guys inconspicuously slid into the seats across from me.
"Hey Beautiful." the first guy said to me.
I glared at them, hoping they'd disappear if I appeared menacing enough.
"After you finish you coffe, come take a walk with us." the second one chimed in and winked for emphasis.
"No thanks." I replied firmly, "I'm fine here."
"Joe, did I say she had a choice?" the second guy asked the first guy, who was apparently Joe.
"No, I don't remember that, Sam." Joe said, smiling cockily.
They both smiled at me in a way that made my skin begin to crawl. I was becoming more nervous and uncomfortable every passing moment.
What do I do? Scream? These guys obviously wanna hurt me, and I'm all alone. I wondered.
The next thing I knew, someone slid into my booth in the spot beside me and I shut my eyes tightly, completely sure it was one of these guy's buddies.
I'm doomed, I thought.
