Chapter Twenty-Three

By the time I pulled up to my house, after seeing Nick kissing Justice, I was fuming. I had no idea what to do. Thousands of questions where going through my head, and had no answers for any of them. I wanted, no, I needed answers. And I needed them now.

Unfortunately, I knew that it was a bad time for me to go looking for them when I was this mad. So I decided tomorrow at school would be much more appropriate.

I walked straight to Nick's locker to wait for him the next morning, but what I saw made things even worse. He was already there. With Justice. I stood there out of sight, until she finally left.

I pressed my lips together. All I had to do, was just walk over to him and confront him about why he lied to me. It was easy. But it was easier said than done.

"Hey, Amber!" I heard a voice say behind me. I turned my eyes from Nick to see Abigail smiling back at me.

"Hey," I said, trying to fake a smile.

"Uh-oh, something's wrong. Is everything okay?" She asked me, reading my face.

I hated how easy to read I could be sometimes. I was terrible at masking how I really felt.

"I'm fine." I said.

"Hey....you know, I'm sure everything will really be fine....." She told me.

"I just wanna know why he would lie to me...."

"Aha! So, Nick lied to you. What about?"

I shook my head at her. Well, I guess I had to tell her now. "He's dating Justice, and he told me nothing was going on between them when I asked."

"Why did you ask him that?"

"Isn't it obvious?" I asked her. "I wanted to know."

"Well, yeah, but, I mean, why would you care? And you're wrong, they're not dating, as far as I know."

"I don't care. And they're not? How do you know?"

"Well, I do know she wants him, I'll give you that. But they aren't dating. I'd know if they were, I'm sure."

"Well, I saw them kissing yesterday." I said.

Abigail shrugged. "I don't know. I guess if you really know, you're gonna have to ask him about it. Anyway, I gotta get to class. Seeya!"

"Bye, Abigail."

"Hey, call me Abby, okay? Abigail sounds way too formal."

I smiled at her as she left, and then I began making my way to my first class.
