Chapter Twenty-Five
I couldn't believe it had come to this. I'd ignored him and been the one to be mad, and now HE was avoiding ME. All because he has some kind of secret that he couldn't tell me. Well, I needed to find out. And if he wouldn't tell me, I would just have to go to the only other person that knew the secret, as far as I knew of course. Justice.
As much as I despised her, I knew she was the only choice I had. I just had to know what Nick was keeping from me. I can't express with words how badly it was killing me. What other secret did he have? Was it bad? And if so, how bad? I would soon find out.
In the school hallway, I marched up to Justice. It was the end of the schoolday, and everyone was leaving. Soon we would be alone, if I could get her to stay long enough.
"Justice." I said simply, to get her attention.
She gave me a look that said, "You are so inferior."
"What do you want?" She asked me, a hand placed on her hip.
"I need to talk to you. When everyone leaves." I said confidently. I wasn'y afraid of Justice, not one bit. I expected her to say no, but she surprised me.
A small, almost undetectable smile took hold of her lips, and she said. "Fine. I'll meet you back here in ten."
And then she walked away with her friends.
"Amber? What was that about?' Abigail asked from behind me.
"It's nothing, Abigail---" She gave me a look. "----I mean Abby." I gave her an unsure smile.
"If you say so." She replied, her normal smiling reappearing on her face. "I'll see you later, okay?" She waved as she started walking away.
"Bye, Abby." I called after her.

Almost fifteen minutes later, Justice finally made an appearance.
"Finally." I commented.
She only shrugged in response. "So what do you need to talk to me about?" The strange smile that had appeared on her face earlier reappeared.
"Okay, first, could you please stop smiling at me like that? Frankly, it's creeping me out."
She scowled at me in returned.
I smiled back at her. "Much better. Now, to get to the reason we're here. Um, Nick has a secret. And I need to know what it is."
"Don't you think itf he wanted you to know he would've told you already?"
I'd considered that, actually, but then dismissed it, because he'd said the reason he wouldn't tell me, or one of them for that matter, was that it would hurt me.
"No, I don't. So, I happen to know that you know about it. Tell me." I said bluntly.
"Sure you want to know?"
"Absolutely." I tried to sound confident. hopefully I suceeded. In reality, I wasn't at all sure as to whether I was making the right choice or not. I was just doing this on a whim.
"My pleasure then. The secret is that Nick......."
