∆∆∆

I was now at my house, sitting with my mother for dinner.

"Sweetheart! Are you going to your dad's place tomorrow?" She asked me.

"Mom. I'm sorry. I cannot make it to his place. My professor had invited me to his daughter's birthday party. Not only that but also I'm called by my best friend to help him arrange for the party. It's his cousin's birthday after all." I sounded as natural as possible.

"You didn't purposefully plan this out, right?" My mom enquired.

"Not at all."

"Hmm. I won't be home this weekend. I'm so sorry. My schedule is jammed with surgeries." My mom informed.

"I'll be fine. Don't worry." I gave her a reassuring smile. This wasn't new to me anyway.

The next morning had arrived sooner than expected. It was 8 AM. I lazily woke up from the bed, rubbing my tired eyes. I headed straight to the bathroom to wash up. Once done, I go downstairs to grab my breakfast from the kitchen. Surprisingly, mom was there, humming to one of her favourite songs that were playing on the radio.

"Romeo take me somewhere we can be alone..." She sang along.

"I'd be waiting. All you have to do is run." I joined her.

"Ah good morning dear."

"Morning mom. Didn't go to the hospital yet?" I asked her, wondering why she hadn't left early today.

"I'll be leaving once I'm done preparing your breakfast." She said.

"That's so nice of you mom. Thanks." I back hugged her.

"Anything for you dear."

She's a working woman whose schedule is packed with appointments and counseling sessions. It's good to see her sparing some time to do things for me. Once my father left us back then, she was shattered. Her mood swings were unpredictable. I had to stay strong for her to recover.

"I wish you would stay like this mom. I don't want that smile of yours to fade away." I told her as I held my tears back.

"I'll try."

"Ok. I'm hungry. Please give me breakfast." I sat on the couch listening to the melody of Bruno Mars that the radio was playing.

"What's this song called?" My mom asked me.

"Versace on the floor."

"I do recognize Bruno's voice. The weather is nice out there too." I peeped out through the window behind the couch.

The sun was shining bright but it wasn't that hot. Birds chirped while they got soaked in the sunlight.

"Yeah yeah. It's a good day." I cheered.

After breakfast together, she gave me a goodbye kiss and left for work. Dong Hee messaged me the address. With the help of the navigation app, I figured out that their house was located near my university. Therefore I have to start an hour early to reach there on time.

I chose a movie to watch on Netflix. It's the weekend and my only goal is to Netflix and chill. While watching the movie 'Inside out' I popped up some popcorn to eat. Two hours went by leaving me to shed tears in the end. I skipped lunch because I'd eaten more popcorn, literally filling up my tummy full.

I walked back to my room, grabbed my bag, and threw in some essentials that I might need. I also got a gift for Dong Hee's cousin last evening. I made sure to take it along with me. I picked blue jeans and a pink top with flare sleeves to wear. I changed into those really quickly in the middle of my room. Also, I tied my hair into a messy bun, dusted some compact powder on my face, applied some lip balm on my lips, and voilà I was ready to leave.
