SUNNY'S POV

"I refuse to learn that. I will never use my talents to hurt someone!"

The group of Sky children were training in the now-bright Daylight Prairie. Well, except Eclipse. She was still recovering from an attack by the Shadow Rebellion.

"Well, you're going to have to learn. You saw what happened to Eclipse because she didn't know how to defend herself!" Mez scolded.  Sunny glared at her.

"You're seriously going to blame Eclipse for this?" She said.

"Argh guys! Calm down and just learn the skill!" Shouted Kira from across the meadow where she was sparring with Ethis, "I can hear you arguing from here!"

"Fine. I'll learn the skill. It doesn't mean I'll use it." Sunny told Mez. Mez shrugged.

"You're the Wasteland Elder, you most likely will have to use it in self-defense one day," she told her, "Now here's the skill. Draw out a bit of shadow, now shape it into a point,"

Sunny obeyed, the shadows forming a wicked needle in her hands. Mez nodded. "Now you need to learn to throw it." Sunny gave Mez a look.

"Are you kidding me?"

Mez shook her head.

"Nope."

That was only the beginning.

Sunny flopped onto the grass after a long day of training.

"I don't get it! Why are we learning all of this violence? Doesn't that make us just as bad as they are?" She wondered aloud. Zaira flopped down next to her

"I dunno... why do we think of them so badly?" She asked.

"Maybe because they're trying to kill all the Elders?" Ethis said sarcastically.

Kira was shakily floating a few feet off the ground. "Guys, SHH. I'm trying to meditate!" She scolded them with her eyes closed.

Ethis looked her up and down. "You do realize you're floating, right?" he told her.

Kira popped open one eye and looked down. She crashed onto the ground and glared up at Ethis.

Sunny hopped up, suddenly struck with an idea, "Do you guys think there's another way to fight the Shadow Rebellion without hurting them?

Edna shrugged, "Could be, we just need to find someone who knows how." She mused.

Rayem perked up. "I heard somewhere that there is a spirit in the Vault that can control the mind of any living thing!" he said excitedly, "If we can find them, maybe they can teach us!"

They were all about to go tell Mez when she landed on the ground next to them with a grave look on her face. "It's about Eclipse." She told them before they could even ask. "Her light isn't recharging. If we can't find a source of light strong enough to recharge it, she will never fly again."

I know it's really short but the next chapter will be longer! I'm thinking like 1,000 words! We'll see! I just wanted to get this next book started!
