SUNNY'S POV
Sunny woke up to warm sunlight on her face. She rolled over and sat up. She was in a cavern in one of the floating islands surrounding The Sanctuary. Each future Elder shared their cavern with another, and Sunny shared with Zaira.
The twin's beds were made of small blue flowers called Dreambells that lulled you to sleep when you laid on them. In one corner was a rack with several elaborate capes on it, provided by the Sanctuary Spirits, a two pairs of black pants and boots, two white turtleneck tunics, and Sunny's staff. There was a shelf carved out of the wall with shells and books on it. A light wind blew through the two open sides of the cavern room. Zaira was gone out of her bed, most likely down on the island eating breakfast.
Sunny walked over to the rack and got dressed in a beautiful orange butterfly-like cape, a pair of the black pants and boots, and strapped on her staff. She tied her hair up in a ponytail and leaped out of the open side facing the island. Diving down to the ocean, she skimmed over the waves, dipping her fingers in before pulling up into the sky. Coasting above the grassy meadows of the island, she spotted Edna, Eclipse, and Zaira sitting on a blanket, eating breakfast. Angling down, Sunny landed lightly next too them. They greeted each other with lazy 'Good morning's' and Sunny sat down to eat with them.
She spotted the Hidden Forest Elder, Ararona walking toward them, and asked her what the activity was for that day.
"One-on-one training with your Elder," She answered "Mez is training Rayem," She looked around. "Guess they aren't up yet."
Sunny shrugged stood up, "Do you know where Zonas is?" (A/N: Golden Wasteland Elder)
Ararona looked at her, "How did you know his name?"
"Elder powers," Sunny grinned. "He's at the hot springs isn't he?"
Ararona nodded. Sunny leaped off the ground and glided on an air current.
She flew over the side of the island, swooping over a steaming geyser. She hadn't had much time to explore the island the day before, so she had no idea where the hot springs were.
Suddenly, she jerked to the left as if pulled by a sting, involuntarily swinging towards an archway into the side on the island. She pulled her wings in tight to avoid scraping them against the rocky top of the entrance. The archway turned out to lead into the hot springs. Sunny landed on the sandy ground.
A warm river flowed down the middle of the cavern, curving gently around mossy rocks. A glittering waterfall fell down an open part of the ceiling, splashing into the river. Clusters of jellyfish floated around a broken brass bell.
Zonas was sitting on a rock, gently feeding a baby crab leaves. Sometimes people thought he was just a stoic warrior, but the Golden Wasteland Elder had a soft spot for all things in need. Sunny landed beside him and he started. He smiled when he saw it was her. Sunny grinned back at him.
(A/N: HOW CUTE WOULD BABY CRABS BE?!?)
"How did you find me?" He asked.
Sunny shrugged, "I got pulled here! It was like I just KNEW where you were!"
All the color drained from his face, "It can't be..." He whispered, "Not yet." He looked at her sharply, "Have you been getting stronger?"
"Excuse me?"
He ran a hand over his face, "Sorry," He stood up, "I need to talk to the other elders."
He walked away.
Are you kidding me? Sunny thought, Go on! Leave me to ponder your weird behavior by myself instead of training. I'm completely OK with that.
She sat down on a rock and dangled her feet in the warm turquoise water. All of the sudden, she could see the grassy meadows of the island. She was HUGE! Wait, no. She was seeing what Zonas was!
He walked over the pastures too where the other current elders were in the distance. Upon reaching them, he spoke.
"It's started."
Veton's sister Elvira then said.
"I've been noticing it too. Kira all of the sudden can perform the most elaborate sword fighting I've ever seen," She looked up, "And I can't"
"Same with Edna," Ararona said, "She even found a new herb for healing here on the island, and I can't remember even the simplest ones."
Zonas nodded, "You all know what this means?"
Xofos, the Isle of Dawn Elder answered, "It means, the time has almost come for them to become the Elders."
Something interrupted Sunny's vision.
"Sunny? SUNNY!"
Kira.
Sunny opened her eyes to Kira's worried face.
"Did you get it too?" She asked Kira.
Kira nodded, "I was on my way to find you, and I dropped out of the sky. I managed to glide here, but who knows what happened to the others."
"You do know what this means, right?"
Kira nodded again, "We are going to be Elders."
That wasn't as long as other chapters, but still good, right?
I hope so!
Until next time!
