ECLIPSE'S POV

Eclipse had always pondered the world, curious about every element that made the Sky Kingdom run. But, not so literally.

"Eclipse and Sunny!" Ararona said.

Sparring. Again. Not that it wasn't fun, but Eclipse was opposed to hurting things. Facing Sunny, Eclipse plucked small light daggers out of the air, blunting the tips. Sunny always won her sparring matches. Always. She had short phases in the matches when she moved like the wind and was stronger than steel

It was odd.

"You may start!" Said Ararona, supervising.

Sunny rushed forwards in the blink of an eye, but before she could do anything, time slowed down for Eclipse. She looked around, everything blue tinted. Turning back to Sunny, she could see exactly where she was going to move next, calculating it lighting fast. Since when could she do that? Blocking the blow easily, the blueness faded away. Sunny seemed surprised, righting herself and taking down Eclipse, winning the match yet again. But Eclipse was distracted.

What had just happened?

Eclipse skipped along a cliff overlooking the glittering waters of the ocean. She loved strolling around the island between training sessions. It was peaceful. But this time, she was worried. She had seen the blue tinting four times since the sparring, and if was becoming more and more frequent. She would talk to Ereven about it later; they had a training session in one hour's time.

Walking forward and off the cliff, Eclipse glided over the water, completely held up by the updrafts of wind. She glided around until she heard Ereven calling her for training across the water. Gliding back, she landed softly next too the elder.

"What are we doing today?" She asked.

"We're learning about the Spirits." She answered, turning away from the cliff. She walked towards the mountain in the middle of the island.  Running after her, Eclipse's vision stained the blue. Looking around, she saw that Ereven had stopped, leaning over.

Looking around in the blueness, Eclipse saw every little clue. Ereven was getting something stripped away from her... but what? At this rate...

The blueness faded away. Ereven straightened and glanced Eclipse's way, who did her best to look confused.

They walked too the summit of the island mountain, sitting down in the two striped beach chairs perched on the edge. Ereven pulled out a thick book with leather covers embossed with gold. The title read An Explorer's Guide to Spirits. She set it on her lap and opened it, smoothing down the pages.

"How one becomes a spirit," Ereven read aloud. She passed the book to Eclipse, "Use this for reference in case you get confused."

And on went the lesson.

"You become a spirit by essentially turning into a star. Or, in more modern terms, a spirit. When you became a spirit, you kept all the qualities of yourself at the highest point when you were alive. Say, when you were the strongest or most powerful. You can come back to the Sky Kingdoms as a spirit, but you have to be very powerful." Ereven finished. She took the book from Eclipse and snapped it shut, the pages emitting a plume of dust. Ereven waved goodbye and started walking down the mountain.

That's when Eclipse knew. Ereven was telling her everything she needed to know about what was happening.

KIRA'S POV (FINALLY!!)

Kira ran down an obstacle course, sword in hand. She spotted Ethis flashing around the corner ahead. She was almost at the finish line.

Twirling her sword, she dashed up next to Ethis and whacked him on the back of his head, sprinting ahead. Then it happened. She felt like she got turned to rubber and stretched out. She stopped and looked back at Ethis, who had also stopped. Kira resolved to beat Ethis. Using her newfound flexibility, she used her sword to launch herself through the air to the finish line. She landed gracefully behind it, in front of Elvira, who grinned at her.

"Finally beat the brother of yours, did you?"

Kira grinned back, "Yup!"

Might have been the fact that he had a broken arm... but she would still celebrate her victory.

Elvira stood up and sent them off, training over.

ETHIS'S POV

Ethis sat on the beach, watching Kira swim around in the glittering water. He picked up a handful of sand, letting it run through his fingers. Electricity crackled around the tips. He looked out at Kira, who had stopped swimming.
She snapped her head towards him and swam towards the shore. Leaping out of the water, she was enveloped by the electricity. She looked at Ethis with wide eyes. Hearing a shout from above, Elvira and Veton ran down to the beach.

Ethis glared at them, "This is all your fault."

Kira glared at him, like always, "You do realize you have to explain what just happened, right?"

The two Elders nodded.

"Best we wait until all of you are in one place," Veton said, "The other Elders are going to be needing to explain as well."

ZAIRA'S POV

Zaira sat on the ground, animal voices swirling around her. She had been in training with Roko, the Prairie Elder, when she had frozen. She started hearing all the things the animals were saying. Roko had rushed over to see what was wrong, but she was busy listening to the voices. Then, she felt herself shrinking, and there sat a manta where Zaira used to be. The manta of course, was Zaira. She had turned into one.

After a while, Zaira turned back. She stared at Roko.

"You're going to explain this."

He nodded, "We need to get you all in one spot, it's going to take a while."
