Chapter 23

Jade PoV:
After Josie collapsed I felt something I haven't felt in a long time, pain and anger. I feel on my knees as I started crying and I just kept apologising. Everything I've done kept coming back to me and I felt something else, I was mad at Josie.

I ran up to Josie and started shaking her "Josie! Wake up! Wake up, PLEASE!", but nothing. She was as still as if she was dead. That's when I looked at Hope "what the hell have you done?".

She didn't move and just looked at her "Hope, what did you do!?". That's when she broke down and started crying "I don't know! I got scared and I didn't know what to do.".

That's when suddenly Lizzie jumped in "you used the spell didn't you? HOPE, ANSWER ME!". I didn't know what was going on, but it sounded pretty serious "what spell are we talking about?".

"The spell Hope used on Josie was the spell Alyssa gave to her. And I think I can also say that she has no idea what it even does!". I looked at her completely shocked "Hope, really? Are you crazy!?! Please tell me that isn't true...".

She just nodded "it is true. It's all my fault. It's all because I got scared and I used the spell that could have just killed her... I don't know what it does, I never did. But I do know we have to do something, we have to get Josie back.".

I was just about to say something when Lizzie cut me off "okay, me and Hope are going to work on that... in the mean time.... Wendy, please take care of Jade, she just got her humanity on and I think the guilt will be coming quite soon.".

Lizzie PoV:
Everyone agreed and then we went to our positions. Me and Hope were looking through all of the books and tried a lot of spells on Josie, that we thought could maybe work, but every time, nothing happened.

I looked at her lifeless body as she hasn't been waking up. I was starting to worry and I shook her a little bit, but nothing. I leaned back and started tearing up "no...no, no, no! It wasn't supposed to end like this. You were supposed to wake up and be alive. I'm so so sorry for this.".

After I said that Hope showed up and she looked scared "Did she wake up?". I shook my head and she covered her mouth with her hand "Lizzie, what did we do? Did we kill her?". I just closed my eyes and hoped that was all a bad dream, but it wasn't.

After a couple of minutes I opened my eyes to see nothing has changed. I decided to look even harder for that stupid reverse spell that we needed, since it was Josie's life we were talking about.

We've looked almost through every book and tried a lot of spells and I was already losing hope "This was already our 15th attempt at waking her up and nothing! " I yelled as I started crying again. Hope looked at me "it's going to be just fine, we can do this. We can wake her up, I promise", but even I knew she wasn't so sure anymore.

Then Hope hugged me "I will work for it, okay? I'll make sure we will succeed. Because if we don't, I'll never forgive myself". As soon as she said that I heard a little noice and I figured out that she was crying. I hugged her back "I know.".

After we hugged I just stared at her "we have to continue, so my sister can be back to normal as soon as possible. I think we've had enough dark Josie for a lifetime." She chuckled and smiled at me slightly "let's get back to the library, there are still some books we haven't gone through.".

We walked away without realising someone was watching our every move and leaving that gym again, was the first mistake we did.
