I don't know what this Ruby is suggesting or about the looks she and Ally keep exchanging but it unnerves me. "Why am I in this group?" I ask as we gather round the table in the lab. Ruby's blacked out the windows so no-one can see us but we can still see them and she said she dismantled the security cameras and audio this morning. "What do I bring to it?"
"What do you mean?" Ruby asks, her mouth curling up in a smirk.
"You're the super genius, you can be all scientific and work things out like your dads. Ally has the training of her parents. She can use a gun and shoot arrows. Sam is the fighter who is half-Asgardian. I know that she's very fast because I've seen her running races with my father."
"You can keep up with Rogers?" Ally asks, eyes wide.
Sam grins. "I can beat him."
"I swear Thor isn't that fast," I say. Ruby, from behind Sam's back, shakes her head frantically at me. I shut up quickly. Maybe her mother is fast and she hasn't mentioned her mother yet so she might be dead or She might have abandoned her. "Anyway, what's my purpose?"
"You have Barnes' bravery," Ruby says and I blush. "And Rogers' loyalty and kindness. You're our own little mascot. And you can recruit people, Libs."
"Like who?" I raise an eyebrow. "I thought we couldn't trust anyone."
"I know someone we can trust," Ally says suddenly. "He won't tell anyone, I promise." We all exchange looks at the he but then smile at her. "Libby can come with me to ask for his help."
"Great. I'll carry on trying to access this file and Sam, you can try to contact your uncle. He'd be a help since he isn't loyal to SHIELD-"
"No," Sam interrupts. "I don't talk to Loki. Me and my father...we don't talk to him anymore."
I stand up and pull on my denim jacket. "Let's go," I say to Ally. "What's this guy called?"
"Wilson. Riley Wilson."

I get out of Ally's car after she brakes sharply outside a house in Washington. We told the SHIELD agents that we wanted to go shopping and we'd be back before 10 tonight. "This is his house? Looks pretty nondescript."
"He's seventeen. He's only a year younger than us and we still live with our parents so he does," Ally replies and knocks twice on the door. It opens a moment later.
The boy has dark skin but lightened by sunlight. His hair is dark and curly, his eyes a pale blue and he is wearing a hoodie that hung off his skinny frame. "Ally," he says, smiling.
"Hey, Riley," she replies with her usual cool and distant look. "You got my text, I'm guessing."
"Yeah, you need help?"
"Still got Wilson's access key card to the Pentagon?" Ally asks. I blink at her. The Pentagon? Dear God.
"Yeah. It's in a vault in my room." Riley glances at me. "You're Steve's daughter, right?"
"Steve Rogers. Yeah. You know him?"
"My dad, Falcon, helped him during the whole HYDRA crisis. He broke into the Pentagon then, Steve did and Natasha," he nods at Ally. "You two should be able to do it."
"Right," I fold my arms. "Can we just have the stupid card thing?" I ask. He grins and disappears into the gloom of his house. I turn to Ally, staring. "We're breaking into the-"
"Yes. Shut up. It will be easy."
"It's high security and we are not our parents!" I snap.
"We should be glad that we're not our parents," she replies.
"What does that mean?" I frown. "My parents are brave soldiers and yours are assets to SHIELD."
"You really haven't got a clue, do you?" Her eyes soften as she stares at me. My mind is whirring. It can't be about her parents; I know that she already doesn't like them.
My parents are the bravest and most life-saving men I've ever known. If she is implying that they have secrets, that I know because they have a long and tiresome history. I know the basics. I know how Bucky got frozen and was found a few years before I was born by HYDRA. He managed to alert Steve who came to save him. They got together soon after that.
Unless they've hidden something from me. I stare at Ally as she accepts the memory card from Riley and puts into a metal box. "Ready to go?" She asks me. I nod dumbly and walk to the car. She says something to Riley, he smiles and she gets into the drivers seat. "Listen, Libby, forget what I said," she says.
"Sure," I say. But I can't forget.
