Amara

Waking up to the scent of pine-trees and the smell of lavender through the sheets of my bed. My messy tied up hair started to fall, while watching sunlight that passes through the window, such a quiet monday morning.

"It's a nice day out" leaning on the window, while observing the pine-trees, the long grass blowing with the wind. I checked the clock, it's just past 8. No more school for the next 2 months "Hmmm.... What should I do for today?" rummaging through my collection of novels.

I've read most of the novels in my collection. Most of them gives the most nostalgic drama. Sitting on the edge of my bed thinking deeply of what to do, I still couldn't decide. I'm in deep boredom.

Walking towards the bathroom. I changed and brushed my teeth. Wearing my classic jeans, boots, a white shirt, and a leather jacket, preparing to go out. I grabbed my bag and went outside.

I opened the door and saw Jareth leaning on a tree waiting for me "It's about time, you finally went out" he said boredly. He probably just arrived and tried to make me feel bad, but I know him too well to fall for those tricks.

"I know you just arrived, so don't act like you waited for me for hours on end" I rolled my eyes. He gave a smirk, crossed his arms and approached me "Wanna hang out on our favorite spot?" he asked.

"Sure" I said. We hiked up to the highest point of the mountain where our clan resided. It overlooks the town and just below us is our clan. We always spend our time here on our free time, it's so relaxing to see the view of the town and the mountains surrounding it. The wind slowly whistling through the trees.

We sat under a tree, and I grabbed my bag to get my book. I glance at Jareth who was sitting beside me admiring the relaxing view.

Then he noticed and looked at me "What are you doing?". I quickly returned my eyes to my book.

"Uh nothing." trying to pretend that I wasn't looking at him.

"Aww don't be shy" he chuckled and let out a small laugh. Starting to tease me again.

"Shut up Jar" while pretending to read my book.

"Did you bring your sketchbook? Why not draw the view?" he changed the topic and had small curves on his lips.

"I might ruin it if I draw it" I pouted, I wouldn't want to mess the perfect image in front of us.

He sighed "There you go again"

"With what?" I questioned.

"About being not good at anything, I thought we talked about this not to look down on yourself" he said.

"But..... I really am not good" I quietly said and looked back down to my book. Listening to the whistling wind.

"Don't be like that, I've known you my entire life. I don't know why you don't see it. Everything you ever made whether it's a drawing, a painting, or a song, to me they're perfect. You say you're not good but you are. Stop doubting yourself" he exclaimed "How many times do I need to say that to you?" he asked while looking deep in my eyes.

I was just silent and looked down, closed my eyes and took a deep breath, then I felt his arms wrapped around me, I could hear his heart beating slowly and the wind through the trees.

I admit that I am doubting myself, I don't even know why. All my life I've been seen as a person with privilege, and that's the reason why I hate being called a princess and that I hate myself. I don't want to be someone that is full of herself and end up being selfish and greedy.
