"those aren't just bells xaio jiu, you are carrying around his heart."

Zhe yan explained, "those little bells are made from a sliver of his heart. He made those even before the wars of prehistoric times. They were meant as insurance for the realms in case something happened to him. Just that little sliver of heart that is tied around your ankle right now can protect the whole godly realm if activated. When they are locked, they are used mainly to alert him of danger and can be activated only if he moves to nothingness but unlocked, they can be activated if the life of the holder is in danger, with his permission, though. Seeing as you are unaware of this fact, I assume he has never given the bells permission to activate but you have to understand, xaio jiu that is too huge a power that you have been carrying around."

Feng jiu didn't know how she felt about this. She was definitely shocked on learning the truth about the origin and powers of the bells but she also felt an overwhelming feeling of love and fear. Love because the thought that she had had the possession of donghua's heart for so long was an incomprehensible feeling that was what she had wanted all along not in such an explicit way, though and she felt fear because of the uncertainty of what this might entail for donghua. She was utterly lost, so she turned to the only person who can help her find her way back.

"is that true donghua?" She stuttered.

Donghua calmly cradled her face in both of his hands and replied, "yes xaio bai, that's true. You have always had my heart, little love. Always."

"but does it not hurt you? I never want to cause you pain donghua. Please take them away. I have no need for such protection. I already have you. Please take them away, please." She was shaking her head hard and trying to control her tears that threatened to burst at the thought of seeing him in pain.

Donghua saw the fear in her eyes and caressed her face, he said in a calm soothing voice, "xaio bai, they are not connected to my body anymore so, they don't hurt but they do allow me to feel your love, my little fox. And that fills my heart up with your affection and warmth. You don't cause me pain, little love. How could you? You are my peace and strength, the balm to my every ache, you make me want to live, xaio bai. All these years I thought I was living when I was just existing in the shadows. But you xaio bai, you brought me out into the light, you made my cold heart feel the warmth of love, xaio bai. You could never cause me pain. That is why I need you to wear these. You might not need these now but my heart needs to know that you are safe and happy and healthy all the time. These tell me that. They reassure me that my little fox still loves me. You ensure my safety in your own ways and I never oppose you on that just like that this is my way of making sure of your safety. Please don't take that away from me. Promise me, xaio bai, that you will never take them off."

All the fear that feng jiu felt melted away on hearing his words. It was not just his words but also the sincere honesty and love swirling in his eyes, the emotions that emanated in waves from his body and enveloped her entire being in a warm hug of his affections, that did her in. Nodding her head slowly, she gave him what he needed. "I promise, dong hua. I will never take them off and I'll always guard your heart and keep it safe."

At peace now, dong hua kissed the top of her head and turned towards their discombobulated audience, "I think that is all for today. We will be retiring now". With that he turned and took feng jiu with him, leaving behind a confused and disconcerted bai clan, wondering what they had just witnessed.

The next day, what donghua had said came true when bai zhi received the invitation for the annual heavenly meeting. It looked like lian song had come through and delivered on what he was ordered to do. So, after breakfast donghua, bai feng jiu, bai zhi, bai yi, bai zhen, bai qian and zhe yan left for the annual heavenly meeting in the sky kingdom. Even though it looked like the entire bai clan was going for this event, they all claimed to have the authority and reasons. Since, bai yi and bai zhen were kings of their own lands in qingqui, they usually attended this meeting. Bai qian though had claimed that as crown princess no one can stop her from being a part of it and zhe yan was an ancient god, the god of medicine, no one dared to offend him, he came and went at will.
