In a flurry of love and joy, almost three years had passed since dong hua and feng jiu's wedding. While the couple had spent most of their time enveloped in each other, they had still found time to tend to their duties.
A lot of good had happened in these past years. If someone to ask the celestials, they would say this had been the best time they had had in forever, and that was saying something since all of them were long-living immortals. One of the most fortunate events had been the crowning of the rightful ruler of the sky kingdom. Shortly after the day when the third prince had been subjected to court proceedings, hao de had decided to retire and pass on the throne to crown prince ye hua and crown princess bai qian. The reason that had been given to the public was that hao de just couldn't continue to manage running the kingdom after sentencing his own son to such cruel punishment, out of his sense of duty. While the masses didn't necessarily believe this statement, the upper echelon knew this had something to do with donghua dijun. Only he was powerful enough to scrape hao de off the throne, so effectively and without getting his own hands dirty. Though their doubts were true, they were never confirmed. Only feng jiu had been privy to the fact that dong hua indeed had been the master puppeteer behind this. He had just sent off a small parcel to hao de with a small collection of the records he had kept of tianjun's misdeeds and transgressions. The parcel had been hand-delivered by an innocent crown prince, completely unaware of the material he carried, with a simple message for hao de, "dijun had asked you to decide over this."
After going over the contents of the parcel, the message had become abundantly clear to hao de; either he decided to retire on his own or this specific matter would be put under court proceedings with the great master of the universe personally residing over it. Hao de had, at last, chosen wisely. In feng jiu's opinion, no one could blame him for being slow anymore. He had made the right choice when it had mattered the most for him.
So, half a year after dong hua and feng jiu's marriage, the sky kingdom had held the coronation for their new tianjun, ye hua and the sky empress, bai qian. All the realms had rejoiced in the departure of hao de from sky kingdom and the enthronement of ye hua.
On the home front, feng jiu had continued to postpone the data for her own coronation as the imperial queen of qing qui or the queen supreme according to bai zhi. While no official ceremony had been held yet, the announcement of her taking over in the fox emperor's stead had been made. This announcement had been followed by the initiation of the new members of qing qui's imperial court. To say the immortals all over the realms had been shocked would be a monumental understatement. This news had caused ripples throughout the realms but of the good kind. Everyone throughout the realms commended and praised the young queen for her kindness and generosity. Meanwhile, the people of qing qui had felt like they couldn't be any prouder of their precious queen and her loving heart. As an extended gesture of her kindness, they too had opened their arms and hearts for lian song and cheng yu. The two new noble courtiers were engulfed in the outpouring of love from the entire state of qing qui. They had become a part of Qing qui so quickly and so thoroughly that it was hard to imagine that once they had been on the outside looking in.
Another thing the people of qingqui couldn't get enough of was how the almighty master of the universe, dong hua dijun doted on their queen and his wife. Everywhere she went, he followed quietly. Never did he say anything or interrupted her, he just kept a hand around her and read through whatever scripture he had in his hand at that time. It didn't matter if they were in the market or in the court, the old god followed his wife everywhere, silently. There were a few people who even claimed that they had seen dijun staring at feng jiu with lovesick eyes but given that he still had an unmoving and expressionless face, it was hard to verify the credibility of their statements.
Though if you were to ask migu or Zhong lin, they would say that these statements were probably true. The two couples refused to be apart from each other for more than a few hours at a time and even that happened only when some immediate report or incident took away donghua's attention. Every time dong hua went to the sky kingdom for court or some important matter, feng jiu went alongside him. They would stay in tai chen palace for a few days while feng jiu enjoyed some time with her aunt and dong hua worked with ye hua.
