3.                     Bonfire

"It's funny you know"
"What is?" Isabell frowned as she looked at me. we were walking to the big town field where the bonfire was held every year. Amber was wrapped up in a bright multi colored sling I had wrapped around my waist and shoulders. She slept like little angel.
The bonfire was a big thing in our town, almost everybody came and it was a great time to catch up with old friends. Although I wondered if my old friend wanted to catch up with me.
"They are all looking at me like I am a slut. I mean, I was no goody, goody or anything but I never slept around. And now I have a baby they all start assuming things"
Isabell looked at two buff guys walking past us. I knew them since childhood but they didn't even try to say hello. Just looked at me like I was something dirty.
"It is ridiculous" Isabell said as she was staring at the guys. "They are all pretty buff and all aren't they?" "Yeah... that's in our genes" I explained her grinning.
It was great that people would think Isabell knew nothing about the werewolves. That would mean they knew better not to talk to me about stupid pack stuff with her around me.

We stopped in front of the big field, the smell of burned wood made me think about last year. I took a deep breath and wrapped my arms around my little angel. Was I ready for this? Isabell could notice my hesitation. "So are we going to do this" She asked looking at me. I nodded an took another breath. "Yes... rather sooner than later!" I sighed and started walking.

"Lillith!"
I moaned as I heard my name being called. "Who is that?" Isabell asked looking at the guy walking up to us. "That my dear... is Joshua... my now ex mate!"
I had told Isabell all about meeting my mate Joshua... or Josh as most people called him. When I met him and realized what he was to me the world seemed to stop for a moment. We spend, I think 2 weeks together. And then it all hit me, being his mate... would mean I would end up in this bloody town, no traveling not being on my own. No dance school. And always being connected to the pack because Josh was the future Beta. And I didn't want that! And he started to realize that too. I was always talking about traveling, wanting to be a dance teacher, travel the world with a company. Let's say that was not what he was looking for in his mate. I think something went very wrong when fate put us together. We talked for a long time and decided to reject each other as mates. The wolf in me was not too happy with that. But she came to terms with it. Especially when I turned out to be pregnant. But the baby daddy wasn't Josh.

"Hey... Josh" I said with a painful smile on my face. I knew this would happen at some point. But boy I wasn't ready! He walked up to us and from the corner of my eye I could see Isabel looking at him. I knew he was gorgeous. Tall, Like Tall, Tall and so friggin buff. Those shoulders were amazing and his green eyes had the color of grass, which paired lovely with his blond short hair. He had the looks for sure. Just not the mindset I was looking for in a guy.
"How are you doing?" He asked looking at me and trying to catch a glimpse of Amber. But she was well hidden in my sling. I could see him sniffing up her sent... Oh it almost made me laugh. And Isabell who saw it too she actually did laugh. He looked at her not understanding why she laughed but she just shook her head. "No Nothing, but nice to meet you though, my name is Isabell"
"Josh" He answered and looked at me questioningly. "Oh don't mind her" I said giving Isabell a warning look. I still had to hold myself from laughing as well.
"She is not yours, Josh" I said quietly. His eyes narrowed. I rolled my eyes, before I could say Anything he took my arm and pulled me away from Isabell.
"Why didn't you tell me about this" He pointed out Amber and I put my arms around her.
"Why should I, she is not yours." I pulled loose from him and gestured Isabell to keep her distance. I didn't want her to get into anything with an angry werewolf.
"But people thought so, your parents came to ask me about it and..."
"They know she is not yours, they know I don't want the pack life. And none of you will know who her dad is so just leave me alone" My brown eyes grew darker as I looked at him. He took a step back. Fighting with a new mom was a bad idea even he knew that. "Very well then, If you say so" The look in his eyes was hard to read. Maybe a glint of jealousy? I didn't hear about him finding a new mate... choosing his own mate was an option now. But so far he didn't. I didn't care, my inner wolf was all about being a mommy now, and him acting like he did now made her growl.

Without saying another word he turned around and walked back to his friends. One of them was Blaine, our future Alpha. He looked at me and I knew they weren't al to happy. This summer he would take over from his dad as the Alpha and I was a problem.

"You okay?" Isabell walked up to me giving the little boys club a dirty look. I laughed. "Yeah I am fine" I said pulling her away from them and walking up to an empty blanket on the grass a nice distance away from other people. They were still eyeing me up and down. "I hate being looked at as the town slut" I said getting down on the blanket and unwrapping the sling. I held Amber in my arms. She had just woken up.
"Oh my gosh, Lill, she is gorgeous!" I looked up to see Jess, She was one of my old friends here. We were in high school together. She loved the pack live and was all for settling down. She just didn't met her mate jet. She was followed by Lissa, another one of my old friends. But I hadn't heard anything from them since the word got out that I got pregnant. Isabell smiled at them as they introduced themselves.
"I am so sorry I never came up to see you" Jess blurted out after she sat down. "My parents... Lissa's parents... they got so nasty and you rejecting your... " She fell silent looking at Isabell who pretended she was stupid. "Well they didn't approve." Lissa followed up. They both looked at Amber in awe. "She looks exactly like you" Jess said smiling. I smiled too. I knew their parents would be the problem. Lissa and Jess were fine with me... well, being me. I had always been the odd one out in this town... having a baby on my own only made it worse.
