Akari jumped through the trees, the feeling of the wind in her hair as she let it flow loosely behind her encouraging a smile to make its way to her face. She let out a small laugh as she enjoyed the pure freedom she felt as she made her way back to Konoha. She had just finished an escort mission, and was going to meet with the Hokage about something important. She could see her villages big gates in the distance, and a grin made its way to her face as she pushed herself to go faster.
She finally made it to the gates up ahead, and hopped to the ground as she walked through the enormous gates. As she made her way towards the Hokage's building, she passed by one of the training fields. She looked over as she spotted motion from the corner of her eye and spotted three genin yelling at their sensei for always being late. She didn't even have to look slightly to the left to know it was the infamous copy ninja, who was notoriously late for almost anything planned in Konoha. She laughed slightly to herself at his genin's outraged faces. As she was watching them and watching, she felt her foot tap against a small rock on the dirt road below her. She smirked to herself as she picked it up, an idea forming in her head. Before she could stop and think about why she was doing what she was doing, she threw the rock hard enough to whack Kakashi in the head. His eyes widened and he snapped his head in her direction, as the young shinobi before him lost themselves in laughter, except for the one Uchiha kid, who instead quietly snickered to himself. Kakashi's eyes narrowed at her as he clenched the rock in his hand. She mockingly pouted at him, and yelled a fake "Sorry!" as she walked away, giggling to herself.
Akari had taken it upon herself to annoy the absolute living fuck out of Kakashi when she could. Her excessive taunting and teasing had finally grown to a point where he started returning the favor. It had turned into what they would consider a hateful relationship, but everyone around them could see that there was something more lying under the surface.
Akari travelled through the center of the village, and finally made it to the Hokage's office. She walked into his office and sat down to give him her mission report.
"The princess was returned safely to her kingdom, and there was no trouble along the way. On the way back, I met a rogue sound ninja, but was able to take him down and finish the fight with only a few scratches," she reported, unknowingly scratching at the small cut on her arm she had gained from a kunai that whizzed past little too close to her liking. The Hokage gave a brief nod, and jotted down the important details of her report. Once he was done, he closed up the file and set his pen down. Akari waited anxiously for him to start speaking again.
"Akari do you remember when you first came to the village?" He blurted out, and Akari was a bit taken aback. It had been imprinted in her brain since the day it happened. She nodded a yes, and the Hokage smiled back at her.
"When I first saw you in my office, I could feel your chakra radiating out of you in waves unlike anyone else I have met with before. You have extreme strength, and your determination and hard-working attitude has been what has allowed you to rise through the ranks of shinobi, and my what an incredible shinobi you have become. That is why I want to offer you a place in the ANBU Black Ops," the Hokage stated formally, and you felt all the air leave your chest. It took every ounce of strength to not cry from pure happiness right then and there. You had dreamed of become an ANBU for Konoha since you started training as a ninja, and you couldn't believe it was finally happening. You nodded furiously, a gleam of excitement obvious in your amber eyes. The Hokage let out a small chuckle and rose from his desk. You followed in pursuit and walked over to his desk to give him a firm handshake.
"Let me take you to the ANBU Headquarters so we can get you your uniform and tattoo," He continued, and you followed him out of his office and into the mountain behind it. He led you to a small office, where a man with short brown hair was dressed in a black skin-tight tank top with a gray protective vest that sat on his upper body. He stood up, and you took notice of the loose black ninja pants he also had on, bandages wrapping around his upper right thigh, a red ANBU tattoo on his left shoulder, and a cat mask sitting on his desk.
"This is Kaito Ito, and he is the ANBU Captain. You will be reporting to him for mission assignments," the Hokage stated as he introduced you two. You shook his hand firmly as he nodded at you.
"Pleased to meet you Akari. I've heard mant great things about you, and I can't wait to work with you," he stated, with a small smile on his face.
"Likewise Captain," you replied. You bid your goodbyes to the Hokage, then followed Kaito to the locker rooms, where he showed you your assigned locker, along with your mask. Your mask was that of a dog face, with red and black lining the eyes, mouth, and whiskers. You thought the mask seemed familiar, but you couldn't recall where you had seen it. Kaito then took you to a separate room, where another ANBU sat at small table with a desk next to him. The table has basic tattooing products, along with sterile cleaning supplies.
"This is Riku Sato, and he will be giving you your tattoo. I would recommend getting it on whichever is your dominant arm," Kaito stated matter of factly, so you sent a quick nod to both him and Riku, then sat so that your right arm was on top of the desk between you and Riku. He sterilized your arm, then drew the outline of the tattoo on your upper right shoulder. He then started outlining it with tattoo ink, as you sat there trying not to fidget so that it wouldn't get messed up.
After about an hour and a half, Riku announced that he finished, and gave my arm one final wipe down. I gave him a quick thanks, then headed back to Kaito's office.
"Our first mission will be in three days time. We will be spying on and gathering information on a rogue camp set up about 15 miles from Konoha. It doesn't seem dangerous, the Hokage simply wants to make sure they aren't planning any kind of attack on the village. We will meet at the gates at 8 AM, so make sure you aren't late. You can choose to bring your uniform home with you, or leave it in the locker room," Kaito said, and gave you a pack so you could store all of your gear as you brought it home. You nodded to him, then went back to your locker and packed up all of your stuff. After packing it up, you exited the headquarters and started to make your way home.
