I got woken up by a knock at my door. Very grouchily, I slowly sat up on my bed, and noticed it was still very much night time. I groaned, my head was absolutely killing me. Slowly I managed to make my way to the door. Dumbledore now stood in front of me, and I tried my best to muster a smile. ''Headmaster'' I greet politely. He grins softly at me. ''Pardon me miss Alzenia, may I have a moment with you?'' I look at him dazedly, before snapping out of it and inviting him inside. He does so and sits on one of my chairs. I follow his actions and sit in the opposite one.
''Ugh.....what time is it anyway...?'' I say, while rubbing my head intensely. ''I believe it is around 3 in the morning dear.'' He replies, like that was the most normal thing in the world. Sighing heavily, I reach in my drawer behind me and take out the potion Snape had given to me last morning. I drink it in one swoop, and finally feel a little relief. The headmaster took that opportunity to voice his purpose.
''I am very sorry to interrupt your sleep in this way, I just find that this is the only time I have not been busy lately, I do hope you will forgive me.'' He says with a genuine air of shame in his eyes.
''Uh...no it's ok, I suppose it must be important.'' He gives me a smile. ''Well, not quite, but I suppose it can be considered as such.'' I expressed my confusion. He mentions wanting to know progress on things. I let myself be frustrated for a few seconds.
*Yeah...imma just go and wake up one of my teachers and ask how everything is going, good idea.* I pushed that thought away and tried to answer. ''Well, I suppose we have made progress, we are nowhere near finding out what the problem is however.''
He giggled. ''Oh, that is wonderful, any progress is good progress I like to think, and how is your other progress?'' I looked at him confused, before I assumed he was speaking of my classes, so I started stammering a response, before he interrupted and said.
''Oh no, you are a very good teacher, I was speaking of Severus.'' My face took on a little color. ''Oh...what about him?'' He smiles, but there was something peculiar about his expression. ''Well, you two seem to be getting along with each other quite well.'' My eyes widen slightly.
''We...do?'' The old wizard nods affirmatively. ''Of course, he has very much trouble opening up to anybody. I see a mutual respect building between you two. I must say I am quite gleeful at the sight of somebody perhaps finally giving him a second chance at companionship.''
I scoff, but with no malice behind it. ''Well, calling it 'mutual respect' is a very hopeful statement. Judging by the way you said things, I'm guessing I am right that he is a scarred soul.'' I already knew he was, but I wanted it confirmed. I had seen his soul after all, it was breathtaking, but also very damaged, any good soul checker could see it very fast.
''You have my confirmation to your statement Alzenia.'' Dumbledore simply replied. I was about to reply when a wave of pain overtook my head once again. It slowly started to dissipate and settled to a dull pounding that was at least tolerable.
''Are you quite alright?'' I looked at his worried expression, and reassured him. He relaxed slightly. ''Well, that concludes my visit, I shall bother you no longer, I wish you a good night.'' I bid him goodbye and with that, he left my chambers.
As soon as he left, my expression fell immediately. I felt like absolute shit, and the headache wasn't making it any better. *Yeah, can't let everyone see how much of a piece of garbage you actually are, huh?* I heard my own thoughts tell me.
''Nope.'' I whispered to myself. ''Snape got a glimpse of it yesterday, but that won't happen again, if he can remain stone faced no matter what, then I can keep pretending as well.''
