The Hidden Secret

Part 4: He'll never know

The following Friday...

We pull up to the house and I feel very nervous. It will be the first time I've seen Johnny since the incident and I can't stay normal around him not after what we did. As Adam parks the car he looks at me and can tell I look tense.

"Are you okay? You look tense." He asks

"Yeah I'm fine, I just still feel awkward round your family. I've only met them once and I feel weird coming to another Friday night dinner just a week after I last came."

"Beth I promise you that we will all treat you as if you're already part of the family, you shouldn't feel awkward but if you do want to leave early I understand."

"Thank you, I knew I fell in love with you for a reason." I kiss him and we get out the car.

We walk up to the door and Adam unlocks it, we walk in and he closes it behind him.

"Hello? We're here." Adam shouts hoping someone will hear him.

"In here" we hear a voice from the Kitchen.

We walk in and Jackie is cooking whilst Johnny is sat on the counter eating whipped cream. I felt my stomach turn as I saw him.

"Hello bobble, hi Beth." She says as we enter.

"Hi Jackie, hi Pissface." I say to them.

Adam high-fives me as I lean on the counter next to him facing Johnny. I try not to look at him so I don't accidentally throw up.

"Where's dad?" Asks Adam.

"In his shed, I can't get him out of there. I don't even know what he's doing." Jackie replies.

"We better go say hi, coming Pissface?" Adam asks.

"Nah I'm alright." He says as he squirts more cream into his mouth.

We enter the shed and I nearly throw up, it's like a pig sti and it reeks of mould.

"Alright dad." Adam says as we enter.

"Bambino, female." He says

"Hello Martin."

"What are you doing in here?" Adam questions.

"Getting away from your mother, she's been driving me crazy and I've had enough of it."

"What's she done?" I ask knowing I don't want to know the answer.

"Making me clean the house and actually do stuff, I just want to sit in here and read my magazines."

"Dad you should really help mum around the house. That house is massive and she can't be the only one who does work around the house, you need to get involved."

"But every time I try and help she just says I'm doing it wrong and takes over."

"Sounds familiar, it's like you when I'm trying to cook." I say to Adam.

"Yeah because you become clueless so I have to take over." He replies.

"Anyway I'm not going in until she says I'm right because I am." Martin continues his story. "Besides, woman are always wrong and the men are always right."

"Okay I think that's my que to leave." I say as I head out the door and Adam follows me.

Me and Adam go into the lounge where Johnny and Jackie are sat on different sofas. Johnny is on his phone and Jackie is reading a magazine. Adam sits on Johnny so he pushes him off and onto the floor.
