PLANEWALKER

———

SHEOGORATH'S VIEWPOINT

"What is it, my love?" Sheogorath had noticed his Queen, his Life, his better and worse half (depending on the day), was distracted and more distant than usual. Even the little bit of Greenmote he slipped into her drink didn't make any difference. It was driving him insane, well, it would have had he not already been from the very beginning. He'd been pleased with the progress she'd been making toward her insanity, but this was too much. "You've been preoccupied lately and I see something's bothering you. How can I do the Fish Stick when my beloved is bothered?"

"My memories have never returned and it's already been about 2 decades as you know, and not knowing my past bothers me. I learned something at the college when I was there. Have you ever heard of a Planewalker?"

"Of course I have. I like having a little bit of fun with them... well, when I'm in a good mood anyway. When I'm in bad mood, they regret coming into my realm. Actually, come to think of it, they regret it either way." He chuckled

"Do you think I was a Planewalker and got trapped partway through, therefore having my memory stripped?" She looked serious.

"I hope not". He'd never heard of those pesky Planewalkers getting stuck mid "jump", so to say. Of course he'd never asked them. They never lasted long in the Shivering Isles, he made sure of it. Daedric Princes in general found them annoying, and tried to discourage them when they visited their realms. They know too much already. An informed mortal is never a good one, and they were worst among the mages. Thoughts of his Lady being amongst the Planewalkers ruined any chance of finishing the Fish Stick, which was, after all, a delicate state of mind.

"I met a young Dunmer woman there, apprenticing at the college and she was my roommate. She brought it up, told me about them, and suggested I speak with one. I think it's worth a shot. I'd need to go to the college though and see if she's still there." She tested him.

"If that's what you want to do" He sighed. Damn woman. He couldn't resist giving her her way. She was his weakness. Everything she wanted, he indulged her. "Bring the Wabbajack, they'll love it. If anyone gives you trouble, zap them with it. Of course, it may change them into something worse, but if that happens, give them another zap. It's great fun!"

"How will I contact you while I'm away?" She questioned. She'd miss him terribly and he knew it. He felt the same way. It was dangerous for those around him than when he was bored. Bored AND missing Deirdre would be a very grim combination indeed.

"You've had the means all along." He stretched.

"How?" She looked confused.

"Remember that enchanted necklace on the table next to your bed that you found before you were sent to get that dagger? The one with the grey stone? That was a gift from me. Activate it and it will form a link from my mind to yours. It only lasts a few minutes and you'll need to recharge it every time you use it"

"You were the one that gave me that?" She sounded surprised.
"I thought you'd have figured it out by now". Maybe he'd been too subtle, "Grey is the color of your eyes, I thought it would look nice on you, which it does."

"Thank you" She said in a whisper. She smiled

"Why don't you go tomorrow?" He suggested. The Fish Stick was sounding appealing once more. He was falling into that state of mind again.

DEIRDRE'S VIEWPOINT

Deirdre looked up at those massive gates, that guarded the college. They creaked open to allow her access. She was still considered an apprentice, until she graduated, if she did. She headed towards the hall of attainment to see if Mel was still in the room they had shared. Heading up the stairs she peeked into the room. Sure enough her old roommate was there, passed out with a book on her chest.

"Mel!" The Dunmer's body jerked awake.

"Deirdre!" She leapt up and embraced her old friend. "I didn't think I'd ever see you again! I graduated 2 years ago and teach Conjuration here now"

"I took you up on your offer of helping me locate a Planewalker. I don't think Sheogorath is pleased about me leaving. I also don't think he's pleased with Planewalkers, either. He considers them nosey pests."

"Aren't they though? That's why they travel the realms of Oblivion, learning as much about the Daedric Princes and their realms as they can. Nobody likes being spied on, especially the Daedra. They have too much to lose with their schemes against each other and against mortals." Mel pointed out.

"Well, I need to learn about my past, so I'm here asking your help"

"I'll lend you my help on one condition." One of those mischievous smiles crossed her face. "I want to hear all about the issue with Jyggalag.... AND how it turned out between you and Sheogorath."

"You run a hard bargain, Mel, but I'll indulge your curiosity" Deirdre laughed. "One problem in this college that needs to be rectified though..."

"What's that?"

"The colors of the walls and the paintings are wrong."

The Dunmer looked confused.
