You heard the room fill with whispers as you made your way to the warden's office. This didn't help with the dread forming in the pit of your stomach. You didn't know what to expect in that office as you didn't have the guts to ask. It was your very first day at Namba. After years of training and attempts to apply, you had finally been accepted. You had no ties to anyone else in the outside world so you had no problem living on an obscure island somewhere in the middle of the ocean. You let out a breath as you began walking down the middle of the rows of what you assumed were waiting chairs outside of her office. There were only a few people sitting in them. They didn't bother to look up as you knocked. "Enter" came a voice, absolute and demanding. You felt your heart race as you opened the door. You forced yourself to keep your head up as you walked to her desk. The lower guards were introduced to Namba in large groups. The only reason you were meeting the Warden directly was because you were to take the position of deputy supervisor of building 13. While it was true that there was already a deputy supervisor for that building (Yamato Godai) he could be a little... daft. Not even the Warden could bring herself to fire the workout loving loudmouth. He wasn't that hard to fool so he had been promoted to deputy supervisorer. The position didn't exist but he bought it. He now spend almost all of his time in the training grounds. You were his replacement. Things in Building 13 were getting a little out of hand. The number of fights had risen due to two gangs fighting, inmates that weren't part of the fighting were more unruly because of it, etc. Overall disorder. You already knew which building you were going to be assigned to, you were here to get told exactly what you were going to do along with picking up your badge and identification. The walk to her desk was agonizingly long. You finally got to the spot you were to stand. You looked up to see a blue haired woman glaring down at you. Or was that her normal look? Either way it didn't help your nervousness. "(F/n) (l/n)." She said, eyes not changing. "You have been chosen to take the roll of Building 13's deputy supervisor." A small swell of pride bloomed in your chest at this. "You are tasked with patrolling the halls, watching over your building through the cameras, and being the supervisor's right hand man. You will assist him with anything and everything he needs help with." You nodded. "You will need to know the twists and turns of the halls of building 13 like you do your own name. You will memorize each and every trap set in the walls." You had been given a map of Nanba that detailed all of the hidden compartments in the walls. You had almost all of them memorized already. "Yes, Warden." She slid something across her desk towards you. "Your uniform along with your badge and other necessary things are in here. Don't disappoint me." She said threateningly. You nodded and grabbed the box. "Dismissed." She said, turning around in her chair. You quickly made your way out of the room, thankful that you didn't trip on your own feet. As you closed the door, you realized that she had never told you who your supervisor was. You debated on going back in and asking but decided against it. "Who are you?" Asked someone, making you turn around. You saw a guard. 'A supervisor' you corrected yourself, noticing the armband. "U-uh, deputy supervisor (f/n) of building 13" you said, trying to find your words. He looked you up and down, "Oh. I expected someone more... substantial." You had expected this. You knew what he really meant. There weren't many, if any, female officers in Nanba. He was expecting some tough, tall dude to fill in the position. You were tough but you weren't that tall and you definitely weren't a dude. Despite thinking about this situation, you never thought of what to say when it actually happened. He cocked his head to the side, "Are you sick or something?" You shook your head, "No, sir. Why do you ask?" "Your face is red." He pointed out. You brushed away the quiet thoughts about blue hair and red eyes and cooled yourself off. "I'm fine. Just a little nervous." "Your first day?" he asked and you nodded. "I feel kinda sorry for you. You would have liked it more in my building." Working up the nerve you asked, "Could you please tell me who the supervisor of building 13 is?" He rolled his eyes, "It's hard to miss that gorilla. He's tall and bald. I can show you if you'd like." You nodded, "Thanks" The two of you chatted as he led you to the building. He told you of all of the events that took place in Namba and about your new supervisor. "Can you find your way from here?" He asked. "Yes, sir. Thank you." He nodded and walked away, tail swaying. You hadn't changed yet so you first wanted to scout out a bathroom to change in. You wandered if there would be male and female bathrooms. You walked the halls and found one after a few minutes. There were two different bathrooms. You changed quickly and found the suit to fit perfectly. You walked out, badge and armband on, walki talki and Id card in your pockets. You still held onto the box as you walked to where you knew his office would be. You set it down at the door and knocked. "Jyugo, if that's you (bleep) off." Said a gruff voice. "It's me sir." You paused. "Deputy Supervisor (y/n)." You heard him curse to himself as he walked towards the door. Samon was right about the bald gorilla part. "Sorry about that. We sometimes have some issues with a few of our inmates." "Its fine, sir." "I would have Seitarou give you a tour but he is a little tied up at the moment, so please follow me." You nodded and followed.
