Charlotte:
The woman tangled up in the cell with Ariel is gorgeous. The copper of her hair shone like fire under the dim light of the room. It seems long though it's tucked into her clothes, the same as the man passed out next to the cage. Emerald eyes blazing with an inner fire regard me as I respond to Ariel.
He doesn't seem that bad off. He actually seems... content? Though the look of skepticism I'm getting from him seems misplaced. I glance at Damien.
"Looks like we weren't needed after all." He muttered, smirking at Heath.
Livid doesn't cover the look on his face. Brows furrowed, fangs extended, sclera turned black as his irises burn yellow-orange. A snarl left lips curling back in a savage grin.
"I'm going to kill him. Cut him into tiny pieces, burn them, then scatter the ashes on all seven continents."
"Fuck off Heath." The red-head straddling Ariel seethed. Her arms wrapped farther around Ariels neck. She's tall enough that they are sitting face to face. She moved slightly away to reveal the mark on Ariels neck. Heaths growl echoed through the room. Menacing. Angry.
Damien shifted until he stood in front of Heath, while Malcolm, whom I had met minutes earlier went to reach for him. Ava already had her arms wrapped around her mate already, as if clinging for dear life. Eyes slightly wild as she looked at me pleadingly.
I took the moment to rush into the cage, locking it and pulling the keys inside with us. Various shouts rang out, the one hitting me the hardest, Damiens.
The shock racked through me from his end. My actions questioned by all present, except Heath. The scream of a Mountain Lion rang through the hall. Feral, enraged.
Movement catches my eye as Malcolm and Damien grab him, stopping him from leaping into the bars.
I ignore them all going to kneel by the newly mated couple. The woman looked at me suspiciously, I could only smile back.
"Are you okay Ace?" I ask quietly, turning my gaze to his shocked one. Slumping onto the floor as I took him in. He looked as though he'd been shoved through the ringer and came out the other side a different person.
Gone is the man I'd known before. The one who'd looked healthy, put together. Seemingly human. This one hides nothing. Even the scent of him is animalistic.
I think it's an improvement if I'm honest.
Not that he'd been a pushover before... but he seems stronger. More steel in his spine. Perhaps it's just because he's not pretending anymore. Had he pretended?
Yes. No one had told me what they are... did Auggie and Cam know? I'll have to ask later.
His hand hovered near my face. Eyes wide in disbelief. "I've gotten better at this... you've never shown up before around other people though."
His voice a whisper. His hand dropped, eyes sparkling blue, glazing over as he sniffed the air, frowning.
"You smell different... you've never smelled like this before..."
"Get the fuck off him Skye." Heath sounding more animal than man. The struggle beyond the bars had come to a standstill. Heath breathing hard as Damien spoke quietly to him.
I can't make out what their saying, distracted by the couple in front of me.
"You should have killed me." Ariels voice is quiet as he addresses Skye. "Should have pulled the trigger rather than be stuck with me.... every woman I'm with dies... or gets hurt." He looked over at me, pain etched on his face.
