"Talk about Killian?" I asked in disbelief.

"Yeah... I think-!"

Eli running into the room with eyes wide cut off her words before she could finish. I growled lowly at him before I realized he's panting. Body doubled over trying to catch his breath. Not something that happens often to shifters, especially one as athletic as Eli.

My body tensed, instantly alert and waiting impatiently for him to speak. Jasper's rough voice beat me to the punch as he growled at his younger brother.

"What the fuck Eli?"

"Rats... took... the... bodies!" Eli panted doubling over with his hands braced on his knees.

"Use the mind link man. It's so much faster." Roman gruffed from the floor. Aries' and Charlotte's episode a few minutes earlier put us all in a state of exhaustion.

"Fuck!" Eli near-shouted, still breathless.

'The rats took the bodies of the women you buried, they're at the gates now. The whole mansion is under attack!'

"Well fuck boy why didn't you start with that!" Jedrek shouted leaping up to his feet. Roman and Jasper followed suit while I pressed a quick kiss to Charlotte's forehead, her warm body pressed against mine; rigid.

"Did you hear that?" I asked, eyes widening in shock as she nodded grimly.

"Shouldn't be possible." I frowned. "Stay here jelly-bean. You and Aries need to rest."

"I-!"

"You are more than capable of handling yourself. I trust you with my life but I need you to do this one thing for me please. Just stay here and rest." I grimaced as I cut her off, silently apologizing through our bond as I spoke quickly.

I waited for her nod before dislodging myself from the bed. She laid back, seemingly exhausted, an adorable pout on her lips as she regarded me crossly.

"I'll make it up to you my little wolf." I kissed her forehead once again, casting a worried glance over at Aries before asking through our link. 'Will you be all right alone with her?'

'I'll be fine, she makes a wrong move I'll hit her. Go.' I felt her smile all through the bond, the one mirrored on her face nearly leaving me dumbstruck with her beauty.

'I'm one lucky fucking man.' I tell her before making my way over to the doors. '...but maybe don't hit her too hard.'

"Eli. Stay here." I ordered as Mabel and Ember scurried our the doors, Charlotte's quiet laughter ringing through the room after them. Mabel mumbled something about getting the rest of the women to a safe room.

"Alpha." Eli nodded in my direction, falling back onto an empty bed with a plop.

"So... laaadies!" Was The last thing I heard from Eli as the doors shut behind me, I laughed at the exasperated look on Jasper's face. We were the only ones left in the hallway as Jedrek and Roman had rushed off.

"Ariel and Maguire are waiting for us in the tower. We should be able to defend from up there. Ariel is already working on a force field. Maguire's moved the earth around the mansion." Jasper growled following me up the steps to the tower. "Why didn't we think of making a fucking moat before?"

I laughed, the sound bouncing off the stones around us. This part of the house more like a fortress than an actual mansion. We took the steps three at a time, a feat, I chuckled to myself that would have Charlotte scrambling to keep up with.
