Chapter 1 - A new beginning.. hopefully

We had arrived at, what I assumed, the living place from the African clan. And I must tell you, it was amazing. They built little huts in the trees where there were, I'm serious, blood-stores. There were robe stores, bars which I assumed only served alcoholic drinks since it's the only drinks we can have and enjoy, bathing huts... Everything what a vampire would need to live with. I smiled as I looked at the crowd of dark vampires, they were a lot. All of the running, climbing jumping and laughing vampires were sparkling in the hot African sun.

"Like it here?" the man asked. Oh My God. I hadn't even asked his name yet. "Questions come later, as I said." How did he know I was about to ask his name? I ignored his comment.

"I like it here, very much. You are with so many!" He smiled when I said this. I assumed he was very fond of his family.. or city whatever it was. After he asked to follow him again, we climbed some trees, sped forward and passed some more huts. Then we arrived at what I would call the main hut.

"Melody, follow me inside." He said, walking in before me.

I saw three vampires in front of me, all on little cushions. To the left sat a stern looking female. In the middle sat a man who I assumed was Obague and to the left sat the man from earlier. They were all black and looked old somehow.

"Melody, dear, I have been looking forward to meeting you for a long time, for your gift is very unique and wonderful." Said Obague. "This," he motioned to the man from earlier, "is Okkar. And that, " he motioned to the woman, "is Ruwanda." Weird names, I thought. Okkar chuckled. Can he read my mind or what?!

"Yes, I can. I can see into the hearts of people, see their true intensions and see their future decisions. I can also read their mind." Okkar said, smiling. Wow, such a powerful gift. He was about to continue so I kept quiet. "Obague can look into the future. That is how he saw you. Ruwanda can make things invisible, including herself and others. Everyone who is within the invisible field she creates, can see everything within the field. We are invisible when we're in this village, so the Volturi will never seek us." Wow, I'm invisible at this point?

"Unbelievable.." I stammered. "Can I ask you some questions?" I asked.

"Sure, young Melody." Smiled Obague. I noticed how the woman said nothing but leaving her alone seemed like a wise idea.

"Well.. what was that with my gift earlier?" I wondered, thinking back to how she had mentioned "my gift" which I never knew about.

"Well, young Melody, I expected you to know this.. since your eyes are blue."

I swear I would've passed out if I wouldn't have been a vampire. I was a vampire! With RED eyes!

"You didn't know your eyes are blue, Melody?" asked Obague, tilting his head to the side slightly. I was lost for words.

"Let her calm down a bit, Ob, she is obviously overwhelmed." Okkar remarked, and I was very grateful because I really needed a moment. After recovering from the shock, I decided to ask Obague more.

"So, what would be my gift in that case?"

"Well, it appears you can change your appearance, maybe even the appearance of those around you." Obague explained his theory.

"But, Obaque, I don't remember ever changing my own eyes, I can't have done this!" I protested, raising an eyebrow in confusion.

"I think you did, Melody. I think you did it unconscious because you hated the monster you thought you'd become. If I'm not mistaken you still do. Those red eyes are the eyes of a killer, it's likely you wanted them to disappear." I nodded, it made sense, it hurt, but it did.

"I don't want to be a killer.." I muttered, looking at the ground.

"Don't worry Melody, I've seen your future, there will be a hard time for you but after you've survived it you will be told a way in which you don't have to kill humans. I would live without human blood if I wasn't too weak."

"A-Are you sure?" It was difficult to pronounce every word clearly, as I was amazed. Live without human blood, why wouldn't I start today? Why couldn't he tell me now?

"He can't tell you, Melody, because it wasn't faiths idea to let you know yet." Okkar said, I had forgotten he was still here in the first place. I looked away, ashamed.

"Don't be ashamed, Melody. We actually, if you're done questioning, would like to ask you a favour." Okkar said, "Ruwanda?" Oh my god, I had forgotten her, too!

"Melody," She had the most beautiful voice I'd ever heard. She made my name sound live heaven. "I had a love of whom I thought was my mate. He wanted to spend forever with me and I with him, so he marked me. But he was a traitor, his love for me was fake and he just used me. I still have this mark, I've had it for 20 centuries." My mouth hung open in shock for a mere second, then I recovered. 20 centuries? Wow! Ruwanda closed her eyes, deep in thought.

"Melody, will you try to remove the mark on my shoulder?" I know I should've expected that but I didn't, and as much as I wanted to help her I knew I couldn't. It made my insides hurt.

"I-I wish I could, Ruwanda." I said, looking at my feet again.

"O, we wanted to invite you to stay here for a while, recover from your wandering. We hoped we could help you train your gift." Obague said. I chuckled lightly.

"You knew I was going to stay, didn't you. Cheater." I laughed together with them.

I stayed with the 3 gifted vampires for several months and I learned a lot about them and myself. I learned how all of them are about 2000 years old and they were brothers and sister. I learned how they were experts in training people's gifts and how they've built this village together to escape from the Volturi. I learned how to use my gift and decided I would use it to remove people's scars or marks they didn't want. I learned how I would find my mate in about 80 years and even though it was a long time I couldn't wait. By that time I would have stopped drinking human blood even though I still didn't know how yet. I would have some sort of a family. I would be happy.

Even though it seemed I had a long road to my final destination, I would never give up because I had a goal now, something to look forward to and something I just couldn't wait for.

~~ 80 years later ~~

I have been living amongst humans for the past 80 years and I haven't slipped up yet. I only killed bad people, who didn't deserve to live. It still felt horrible to take their life's because they didn't stand a chance against me, but it was better than wandering around. I was excited every single minute of the day nowadays because I was so close to meeting my mate, so close to a human blood-free diet. I didn't know exactly when I would meet him but I knew it had to be soon. And after 80 years, 1 year didn't feel long anymore. I would be moving to Forks soon, and I hoped I would meet my mate there.
