Chapter 2 - Dr. Cullen

Forks was the best town for a vampire to live. It was always raining, never would a sunbeam touch my sparkling skin. I would be going to high school for the first time, since I was home-schooled by a personal tutor. I knew something about high schools though, I had read a lot about them and I'd seen happy teenagers with their friends outside when it was lunchtime. I wondered if my soul mate was a human and if so, if he was still a teenager. An eighty years old vampire going with a teen boy.. quite unlikely. But it was possible. After being turned into a vampire and having met people who could make things invisible, anything seemed possible.

I sat on the bed in the room I'd hired in a small motel in Forks. The only motel in Forks, actually. I looked at the alarm clock: 8 a.m., time for my first day at school. I felt like a nervous teenager all of a sudden, it was so new to me! I went outside and into my car, a Ferrari 250GT. I thought it was pretty and saved up some money. When I arrived at the small, ugly Forks High School, I saw it was such a mistake coming with my brand new Ferrari. Every car was slightly old and none were expensive ones, except for 3 shining, huge cars. I was lucky everyone was inside so I didn't get too much attention.

Inside, the building was even uglier than from the outside. It was packed with students and everyone stared at me, no wonder, I was dressed in a short denim skirt and a white tank top with a black hoodie which hung open. It was raining but still quite warm, if I was to believe the weather dude from TV. Boys kept drooling at me and most girls looked kind of pissed off. I assumed they were jealous of my looks, but what I'd given up for those! I took an unnecessary scoop of air, and walked to the lady with the schedules. She handed me my schedule while she said, "There you go, dear." I walked to my first period and stiffened when I entered the classroom: vampires. I could clearly smell them and easily point them out. Three of them, all with golden eyes.

Wait.. GOLDEN EYES?!

I made sure my eyes didn't narrow while I sat next to a black haired vampire girl. She smiled pleasantly at me and shook my hand as I shoke hers.

"I'm Alice Cullen." She said.

"Melody." I muttered, concentrating on the conversation the Blonde model like girl and a big muscular boy had.

"She can't be a vampire, look at her eyes!" Said the blonde.

"Rose, quiet. Even if she isn't a vampire she could still hear us!" I coughed and turned around, staring at them. I decided passing for a human wasn't such a bad idea.

"Hey guys, I don't know what the vampire stuff is about, but I'm not deaf." I smiled at them. "I'm Melody, pleasure to meet you." I flashed my snow white, perfect teeth at them and heard Rose growl. "Hey, chill, Rose was it? I'm not trying to steal your boyfriend, don't worry." I laughed.

"I'm Emmett and well, that's Rosalie. She prefers to be called Rosalie by everyone except for me and her family." He smiled at me. I was still wondering about their golden eyes but let it go, maybe they were just contacts and I shouldn't spend my first school day wondering about some other vampires. The period went quite fast and I actually learned a lot. I didn't talk to the other vampires because I was so interested, but I could tell they were whispering, vampire-low, about me. They didn't smell my blood or hear my heart, but I couldn't be a vampire, could I? I had to stifle a laugh when I thought about it. The next period was English and it was very easy, and it was plain boring because I sat next to a guy who only stared at me and didn't do anything else. The third period was nice because I got to sit next to a very nice human girl who wasn't amazed by my looks but just talked to me like I was a normal person, which I really tried to be. Her name was Rachel and when the third period was over I sat at her table at lunch. She had nice friends but I mostly talked to her.
