My Boyfriend

"So Em what have you been doing since you left? " Hunter asks as he opens a soda from the counter.

"Not much school, hanging out with some friends here and there," I say grabbing a bottle of water from the fridge.  Turning back to him I see him staring at me. "What?" I ask while opening my water.

"Nothing you just seem different," he squints and keeps analyzing me. I raise an eyebrow but don't think much about it and keep drinking my water. "You seem less anxious but more dead," he says out of nowhere. 

I choke on my water. Once I get a hold of my coughing I look at him, "excuse me."

"Nothing just that you used to be more anxious looking at your watch,  playing with your fingers, and breaking apart something then putting  it back together." He says so normally as if it was an everyday thing. "Now you're more relaxed and guarded." he takes a drink of his soda as I keep staring at him weirdly.

"don't worry Em he's taking psychology and now he thinks he's a freaking shrink," Mason says from the kitchen door. "He has been analyzing us for the last year."  He comes in and grabs a soda. "You wouldn't think that out of all of his classes he would pay attention to this one."

"Yeah the other day he said I was bipolar because I got mad that he took my donut," Alex comes into the kitchen pouting. " My bad that I get mad when this fat ass eats my food every time I take my eyes off it for a second," he complains standing next to me.

I chuckle and roll my eyes.  "You guys don't change."

"You don't either you just became scarier," Alex says taking my water. " Now your scary, nice, and violent."

"My sister nice? Are you sure you're talking about the same person?  Because this nice sister beat the crap out of Sam not even 2 weeks ago," Lexi says walking into the kitchen with Nilla in her arms.

We turn to look at her and the guys gave her bear hugs. All the while Nilla tries to tear through there pants. I grab her while they talked to my little sis. They saw her grow up and protected her from harm as much as I did. Although I spent more of my time with the boys they had their own lives with girlfriends and weren't as close to my sister as these guys. Ryan was the one that was as close to her as them but things changed.

"Hey losers, I missed you guys. You know what we should do like the old times? ," she said moving around to grab something from the fridge. She opened a soda and said," We should go to the beach." before taking a swig of her drink.

"We can go this weekend," Mason said.

"Yeah and we can play volleyball and have all those competitions we used to have." Alex chimed in all excited.

Lexi jumps up and down beside him, "yeah, and this time I can play." Alex jumps along with her,

I roll my eyes and laugh. I missed this having fun and not having to worry about watching over my back every couple of seconds.

"yeah and we're gonna bring a surprise to the beach," Hunter smirks. The guys replicate the same face, while lex and I have confused faces.

I shake my head, "you know what I don't even want to know." I say raising my hands in mock surrender.

Lex droops," But I wanna know."

The guys' huddle and motion for Lexi to join them. They whisper and she giggles and nods. She zips her mouth and throws away the key.

I just stand there with my arms crossed and an eyebrow raised.

Just then the door opens and Jack groans. "Em, you have cursed meeeeeeee! I had the most boring day. First I got lost, then I broke my shades, and lastly, I have homework." He comes into the kitchen pouting.

I go over to him and hug him. "Aww, poor baby. Does he want to take a nap?"

He pushes me away and rolls his eyes. That's when he notices there are more people in the kitchen. He looks at me and points at the guys, "Who are they?"

"Oh, these are my friends." I simply state. "Guys Jackson. Jackson this is Mason, Hunter, and Alex."

"Hi" they awkwardly say to each other.

"Well I'm off I have school to finish," Lexi says as she leaves.

"Hey, Jack  you wanna go to the beach on the weekend with us?" I ask

"Sure. I got to go finish up the assignment. Nice meeting you guys." he then leaves towards his room.

The guys come closer to me and stare at me. "What?"

"You're dating someone and you didn't tell us?!" Alex said.

"Our little girls has grown up so fast," Mason says faking tears.

"He's not my boyfriend dumbasses that's Jackson he's like a brother. My boyfriend is somewhere having the time of his life," I say shaking my head giving out a sigh.

Hunter laughs and says, " Yeah, he's having the time his life because he isn't near you."

The other two join in the laughter and I just glare. "whatever, so what are we gonna do with the nosey people at school? I have a lot of work to get on with but with so many people wanting to know what the drama is gonna be about this year. I have to make sure no one recognizes me when I do my assignments, or go out to tie things up. Maybe I should home school."

"No, we need you at school. We haven't hung out in 2 years and now we can spend time winning at the group activities at school." Hunter says. We all are very competitive and have worked too hard on group activities to just let it go. Even if I was away we still have a bond. " And we have to catch up on what has happened in these past times."

"I don't think you have to worry about being the main gossip for too long," Mason says.

"Yeah, you just have to wait a couple of days until something else becomes there center of attention," Alex adds on.

"Knowing how dramatic our school is there might as well be new gossip by Monday"

Little did I know how right I was.
